The Rainy River is a river, approximately 85 mi (140 km), that forms part of the U.S. Canada border separating northern Minnesota and northwestern Ontario.
It issues from the west side of Rainy Lake and flows generally WNW, between International Falls, Minnesota and Fort Frances, Ontario, and between Baudette, Minnesota and Rainy River, Ontario.
The Ontario and Rainy River Railway, opened in 1901 and now part of Canadian National, follows the river on the Canadian side.

Mast is co-pastor at the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church of Rainy River, Ontario, along with Gordon Armstrong.
The Evangelical Covenant Church of Rainy River is one of five Covenant congregations within a 60-mile radius.

I've been particularly concerned in northwestern Ontario because just to have each of the boards that will be affected by amalgamation have an opportunity to make any representation at all, we've had to group some of the boards from the northwest and west of Thunder Bay, as well as east of Thunder Bay.
That Bill 104 be amended to address human resource issues, including, but not limited to, job protection for all employees of existing boards, recognition of the legal status of current collective agreements, protection for existing employees from transfers beyond the boundaries of their current boards, and successor rights for current unions and federations.
The boards of education remain committed to the ideology that forced amalgamation is irresponsible and contradicts the principles of local autonomy and therefore the democratic rights of the community and its constituents.

RAINY RIVER, ONT. - Federal, provincial and First Nations governments have agreed on the basic terms of a $71-million land claim in northern Ontario.
If finalized, the Rainy River First Nations land claim will be the first time Ontario has created new reserve lands in a populated area.
The Rainy River First Nations has approximately 700 members and its reserve is 350 kilometres west of Thunder Bay.

That's right, the mighty Rainy River in northwestern Ontario, an impressive body of water that stretches some 96 kilometres from the town of Fort Francis to the Lake of the Woods, Ontario.
The upper reaches of this river, near Fort Francis open the earliest and in a normal year by the first week of April, the ice is almost off the entire stretch of river.
Combine that with the fact that the Ontario walleye season doesn't close until the middle of April there is usually a small one to two week period to fish early season open water walleye.

Approximately 80 species of dragonflies and 10 species of damselflies are found in the Rainy River District.
The district has a diversity of habitats including lakes, rivers, streams, boreal bogs and fens and open farmland with meandering rivers and wetland ponds.

RAINY RIVER — The Ontario government and the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board are helping local, lower-income tenants with short-term arrears stay in their homes with an emergency rent bank program.
The announcement was made by Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing John Gerretsen and Russ Fortier, chair of the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board.
“The Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board is pleased to be able to assist tenants who are facing arrears and to administer the rent bank funding program to residents in our district,” said Fortier.
