Ostrovsky added that Lake Mead Hospital was a smaller hospital with a very large share, 37 percent, of uncompensated care.  Sunrise was a very large hospital that also had a great deal of uncompensated care; however, it was smaller in terms of the percentage of their total number of patient days.
Ostrovsky answered that the bill provided for a percentage amount.  His amendment would raise it to a fixed number, greater than 20 percent of care.  The standard was different and they believed more appropriate because it looked for those hospitals that had the greatest number of Medicaid utilization days.
Ostrovsky stated that during the work session one bill was killed, and the other one was processed.  He added they had not been in the room when that occurred; if they had been they would have made a proposal.
