Raising Hell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Raising Hell is a 1986 (see 1986 in music) album by old school rappers Run-D.M.C. Their breakthrough album, Raising Hell set new standards for what was possible for a hip hop group, going triple-platinum and receiving critical attention from quarters that had previously ignored hip hop as a silly fad that would soon disappear.
Most important of the tracks on Raising Hell is the collaboration with Aerosmith, "Walk This Way".
Raising Hell peaked at #1 on Billboard's RandB/Hip Hop Album chart, and at #6 on the Billboard 200.

But Richard Hell is arguably the founding father of 1970's punk rock, the man who took the nihilism of William Burroughs, the suicidal recklessness of Jack Kerouac, the grit and grime of New York's junkie street culture, and set it all to a bunch of snarling, half-tuned guitars.
Hell's refusal to wash or comb his hair for weeks on end led, albeit inadvertently, to the advent of the spiked haircut, and he pioneered the ripped t-shirts that soon became de rigeur among rock's undesirables.
Hell, clearly more content to live in his own private shtetl, skipped out on this band, too—before they set foot in a recording studio, and before they toured England with the Sex Pistols and the Clash on the famed Anarchy Tour, which sparked a full-scale punk revolution in the Land of Hopelessness and Glory.

 "Raising Hell" by Phillip Longman
Moreover, in recent times, widespread fear of and resentment at population growth has fostered the perception that parents are just another kind of selfish consumer, and that we would be better off with fewer of them--particularly if they are of another race or ethnic group.
Consider that in the past, parents bore the full cost of raising their children but also held on to most of the resulting return.
Employers, and the majority of citizens who are not actively involved in raising children, benefit from this status quo, which is why, no doubt, it has continued for so long.

HELL currently turns over approximately 1 million British pounds ($1.6 million) in business per year, although Eaton admits the figure fluctuates with the health of the musicals in the West End.

By their third album, Run-D.M.C. were primed for a breakthrough into the mainstream, but nobody was prepared for a blockbuster on the level of Raising Hell [+].
But the brilliance of this record is that even with this increased musical depth, it still rocks as hard as hell, and in a manner that brought in a new audience.
No, the music was fully realized and thoroughly invigorating, rocking harder and better than any of its rock or rap peers in 1986, and years later, that sense of excitement is still palpable on this towering success story for rap in general and Run-D.M.C. in specific.

Hell was one of scores of artworks destroyed in the Momart fire, thought to have been caused by arson following a break-in in a neighbouring industrial unit in the early hours of Monday May 24.

Although Raising Hell isn't a riveting success, it's not a total failure, either.
