Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari (சக்ரவர்தி ராஜகோபாலாச்சாரி) (December 1878 - December 25, 1972), known as or Rajaji or C.R., was an Indian lawyer, writer, statesman and a Hindu spiritualist.
Decades later the bureaucratic barriers imposed since the 1950s have been gradually removed, and the economy has since made rapid strides, quickly achieving one of the highest growth rates in the world, causing many to re-evaluate Rajagopalachari and the Swatantra Party's positions.
As a writer, besides his own material, he published English translations of many important Indian and Hindu works: His translations of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and Bhaja Govindam remain the standard versions.

When India gained independence in 1947, the older title was maintained, in imitation of its use in other Commonwealth monarchies such as Canada and Australia, to refer to the chief royal representative in India ( Pakistan had its own Governor-General).
In 1948 Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari ( popularly known as Rajaji and C.R.) became the only native to ever hold the post.
When the monarchy came to an end in India in 1950, the position was abolished and replaced by a President.

Apart from lacking in mass appeal, Swatantra was heterogeneous, even if not to the same extent as Congress.

This book was laid out, edited, and proofed rather poorly--it is rife with typographical errors, and its glossary is rather hit-or-miss.
In addition, Rajagopalachari's translation is stilted, full of phrases that were unidiomatic even when this volume was first released in the 1950's.
This book by Dr.C.Rajagopalachari would certainly give a deep in sight in to this great indian epic.A great book and a must read for every one who wants to know Ramayana.
