  Infighting weakens Legharis -DAWN - National; October 5, 2005
In Rajanpur, the Leghari group, led by Farooq Leghari, is facing strong opposition from the group, led by MNA Nasrullah Dareshak, and Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Shaukat Mazari.
It may be remembered that the Leghari group remained in power in Rajanpur and DG Khan districts during the last four years of local government.
The CM nominated Nasrullah Dareshak’s son Ali Raza for Rajanpur district nazim.

Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur get equal water share from Head Taunsa despite the fact that the former has 150,000 acres of land that is cultivated as compared to the latter where 350,000 acres are brought under cultivation.
If Rajanpur is given its full share of water, it has the potential to contribute handsomely to country`s cotton and wheat production.

In district Rajanpur out of 53 tested cases, 7 were absent, 28 sensitive, 16 patients of R1 (resistance of level 1), 2 patients of R2 while none of R3 level was detected.
March April and Sept October are the two main seasons for the spread of disease with 20 to 30 percent cases in March April and 70 to 80 percent in Sep October season’ that is why authorities in health department spray insecticides to control mosquitoes from 15th June to 15th Oct.

Of course, the fact that to communicate directly with Rajanpur city from Bangla Ichha requires a journey through Sindh into Kashmore and then across the dangerous Mazari-Bugti firing line, is a major deterrent which keeps local officials away from our area.
Even at the time of floods, hardly any official from Rajanpur bothers to traverse across to this outpost of the district.
This physical divide also played a role in the period leading up to the elections when the DCO was hardly available on the telephone -- especially in the last two days before the polling -- to deal with the tactical problems relating to the polling.

RAJANPUR, Oct 16: A raiding team of the regional directorate audit has unearthed a financial scam of Rs9.7 million in the local health department.
In its report, the audit team revealed that Rajanpur DHO Dr Shehnaz Naeem had misappropriated Rs9.7 million under the heads of medicines and general store items.
It is learnt that the DHO has strong links with high-ups of the provincial health ministry which provide her protective shield.

RAJANPUR, July 29: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has announced Rs750 million for the construction of almost 30,000 houses flattened by the recent floods across the province.
The chief minister declared several villages in Rajanpur, Jampur and Rojhan calamity hit and exempted them from payment of agricultural and other taxes.
The chief minister said these announcements were to be made by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, but he had to defer his visit to Rajanpur owing to bad weather.

And a report from Multan says that a kidnapper and a hostage were killed while two other hostages were got released Tuesday after a 20-hour long hide-and-seek chase and firing encounter between police and the criminals at Nala Garang, a rocky area located in the precincts of Shahwali police station of district Rajanpur.
Police said, some 20 to 22 criminals riding some jeeps blocked Indus Highway between Mela More and Abdullah More where they allegedly robbed passengers of two buses of valuables besides snatching a pick-up and kidnapping three passengers.
Police was informed and a heavy contingent of police and Elite Force led by DSP Rojhan, DSP Sadar Rajanpur rushed to the spot where they noticed the criminals fleeing on their camouflaged jeeps carrying three hostages at around 6:40 pm on Monday.
