Subsequently in 1947, Tilman and his party attempted Rakaposhipeak from the Kunti glacier to a point at 6,200m/20,340ft on the south-west spur.
The party was unable to reach the 2,000-foot snow slope popularly known as "The Monk's Head." Tilman and Gyr then climbed on to the north-west ridge of the mountain between north-west peak and the summit at about 6,096m/20,000ft.
Another nearby peak is Rakaposhi (East-East) peak which has a height of 7,010m/23,000ft and was climbed in 1985 by an Austrian expedition which was led by Eduard Koblmuller.
Rakaposhi, is one of the most magnificent peak found in the world today.
It is situated near the town of Gilgit and with a height of 7,788m/25,551ft it is easily climable from all sides.
The party had originally thought, that, the height of this peak was 6,900m, but after the climb, from Diranpeak's side, it placed put the height to 7,010m.

This is the best spot to view the famous peak of Rakaposhi that rises straight out of cultivated fields and reaches 7788 meters in the sky.
When it correctly falls into the upper recess containing some powder, spark is produced which, traveling inward into the barrel, fires off the main charge.
The valley is situated to the north of Gilgit and beyond small villages and fields, the valley leads to China in the east.

Morning drive to Minapin village in Nagar valley, through the scenic mountain villages and a brief stop at the Rakaposhi viewpoint to have the magnificent view of the Rakaposhi, continue drive to Minapin.meals and overnight at hotel.
An easy walk along the minapin glacier takes you through the green slopes of the meadows and a very spectacular view from the green flat ground on the banks of minapin glacier.

First of all accept my congratulations on visiting these most beautiful parts of Pakistan.All the pics you have taken are beautiful.Specially the visit to Rakaposhi basecamp pics are the most beautiful.
But I find one thing short in your galleries and it is that you have not given the information regarding these places, the distance between different places and the number of days required to reach each point and return as well as the number of days in camping and jeep expenditures etc.
The expedition’s original goal was Rakaposhi’s NW Spur, but the broken glacier at the base of the mountain prevented the climbers from reaching the wall.
“However, from an exploratory point of view, I consider our decision to leave Rakaposhi’s BC for an unknown glacier, a great act of courage.
To change a running expedition is like changing the course of a river.” Alberto also mentions the strong individuality of the team-members as a characteristic factor during the expedition.

It's very interesting travelling by Internet, but some day I hope to visit this places, for, more than seeing, also feeling and smelling all the marvels of this pictures, and eating in the airplane-restaurant (I have never seen nothing like this)!
