Ralph Lee Sampson (born July 7, 1960 in Harrisonburg, Virginia) was arguably the most heavily recruited (for both college and the NBA) basketball prospect of his generation.
Ralph Sampson won numerous individual awards in the short period of time he was healthy, but he never won a National Championship or an NBA Championship.
In 2006, Sampson was indicted on perjury charges in a federal child support case.

He did important research into the theory of the motions of Jupiter's four Galilean satellites, for which he won the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1928.
