He had embezzeled state funds, and when his guilt was established, the Afghan governor, Azim Khan, gave him the choice of death or conversion to Islam.

The capital of this mundane paradise is Srinagar where Ram Nath Kak was born in October, 1917, and passed away in Honolulu in July, 1993, reminiscing about the splendours of his motherland, which he adored.
Shri Kak is an intellectual giant, but it is not possible to discuss everything here except one major issue that he did not think of the Hindus as just a religious group but a bona fide nation based on lineage and a homeland.
Shri Kak is a model, which should be followed by the pandits, who have, unfortunately, chosen to live in refugee camps in Jammu and Delhi.

Ram Nath Kak (1917-1993) is best known for his autobiography Autumn Leaves: Kashmir Reminiscences.
This book presents a vivid picture of life in Kashmir during the 20th century, and it has a compelling account of contemporary political developments.
By profession a veterinarian, Kak was a keen observer of society and much interested in Kashmir's own spiritual tradition.

Meera Kant's latest play "Kaali Barf" (Black Snow) presented by Sri Ram Centre Repertory and directed by Mushtaq Kak that premiered this past week in Delhi lives up to the promise one saw in her first play, "Nepathya Raag".
As the playwright puts it "Kaali Barf" is built around the diaspora of the Kashmiris who left their homeland in the very early days of the tribal invasion from across the border.
The story is mainly built around Tathaji's family and their friend Naseer who initially is opposed to the migration of Hindus from Kashmir but later forced by circumstances not only to help his friend Raj escape to Jammu but eventually himself leave Srinagar.
