	1963 Rambler Classic and Ambassador (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
		Both the Classic and Ambassador share the new 112-inch wheelbase body/chassis unit and are identical in exterior and interior dimensions.
		Rambler suspension is by coils all around, but they're firm enough so that rough roads can be stormed with confidence.
		The interiors of both the Classic and Ambassador are roomy and comfortable.

	The Rambler Years
		The Classic was beautifully restyled for 1963, and it moved to a longer, 112-inch wheelbase (shared with the Ambassador).
		At first it was called the "Ambassador by Rambler," rather than simply the Rambler Ambassador, but it was always based closely on the intermediate Rambler/Classic/Rebel/Matador platform, usually with a wheelbase stretch (the extra inches were always ahead of the firewall, which provided few practical benefits but usually made the Ambassadors look and ride better).
		Basically a Classic with an extreme fastback roof (here's an amazing bird's-eye view), the Marlin was too big and underpowered to compete as a pony car, and somewhat impractical as a family car; production reached 10,327 for 1965 but dropped to 4,547 the next year.

	CanadianDriver: Motoring Memories - 1963 Rambler Classic
		The Ambassador was really a Classic with a 229 mm (9 in.) longer wheelbase, and they were the first all-new cars from AMC since 1956.
		The new Classic was 25 mm (1 in.) shorter and narrower, and 56 mm (2.2 in.) lower than the bulky design it replaced.
		The Classic was powered by AMC's 3.2 litre (195.6 cu in.) long-stroke, overhead valve, inline six cylinder engine, which developed 127 horsepower in standard form, or 138 when with a two-barrel carburetor.

	AMC - The Spirit Still Lives (history of American Motors)
		The Rambler Classic came as a six only, as the Ambassador was shrunk to the 108" wheelbase, and shared the Classic's front end clip.
		A special edition of the Classic two-door hardtop, in Solar Yellow with a fl roof, was the first AMC to be powered by the "Typhoon" 232 cid six.
		Mike Sealey notes: While the Rambler name was dropped in North America, it was still used in Australia and South Africa until AMC pulled out of those markets in the mid-'70s.

		The reason to replace the alternator is when your car was new and every thing was perfect.

		There were enough 63-64 Classics and Ambassadors there to make it whole, that was for sure.

		He completely restored the 1969 Rambler Scrambler, a rare automobile in anybody's opinion who knows anything about cars.
		He did the same with the Rambler, finishing it just in time for this year's show, about a year after he got started on the restoration.
