		In het kollektieve geheugen van de nog een beetje historisch bewuste Nederlanders is meestal, naast 1600, de Slag bij Nieuwpoort, (LINK), ook het Rampjaar nog wel bekend, met de tragedie, de echt zwarte bladzij in de Nederlandse geschiedenis, van de waarschijnlijk georganiseerde moord op de broers Cornelis en Johan de Witt.
		De schutterij van Den Haag trad pas op na afloop en vreemd blijft dat alleen de broers de Witt vermoord zijn, hoe erg dat ook is natuurlijk.
		Schepers kreeg na het verzetten van de macht in het rampjaar 1672, als vurige Oranje aanhanger een plaatsje in de vroedschap van Rotterdam.
