Ramzi Yousef - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ramzi Ahmed Yousef or Ramzi Mohammed Yousef (also transliterated as Ramzi Yusuf, Ramzi Youssef) (Arabic: رمزى يوسف), birth name possibly Abdul Basit Mahmoud Abdul Karim, (Arabic: عبد الباسط كريم) was one of the planners of the first World Trade Center attack and a number of other attacks, including Operation Bojinka.
Ramzi's father was a Pakistani engineer who worked for Kuwait Airways, is believed to be from the Baluchistan province of Pakistan, same as Yousef's uncle, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.
Raised in a rural Palestinian community in Kuwait, Ramzi excelled in math and science, but was treated as a second-class citizen, which formed his underlying grievance.

THE WORLD TRADE CENTER BOMB: Who is Ramzi Yousef? And Why It Matters - The National Interest, Winter, 1995/96
Ramzi Yousef's plots were the most ambitious terrorist conspiracies ever attempted against the United States.
Rather, it seems that Ramzi Yousef risked going to the Pakistani consulate with such flimsy documents because he wanted investigators to conclude that he was in fact Abdul Basit, and so would stop trying to determine his real identity.
As before, those who have the information about Ramzi Yousef and his bombing conspiracies are not concerned with the question of state sponsorship, or at least consider it secondary to their trials; while those who are concerned with state sponsorship are denied the information that they need to investigate the question properly.

Highlighted by CIA was that one of Youssef’s associates -- Abdul Hakim Murad -- was an airline pilot who had attended flight schools in the United States.
Though Youssef had disappeared minutes before the raid on his Manila apartment, he was traced to Islamabad, Pakistan, and arrested there on February 7 by FBI agents and Pakistani soldiers.
As the Bureau learned more about Youssef and his associates, it became clear that they were obsessed with hijackings and with spectacular attacks against vulnerable targets.

In the Philippines as part of Project Bojinka, Ramzi Youssef, on behalf of Iraq, recruited conspirators to attempt to simultaneously bomb five or more U.S. 747 aircraft over the Pacific, using delayed timer tactics with many similarities to Barbouti’s 1988 bombing of Pan Am 103.
Youssef also conceived of plans to highjack planes bound for the United States in order to dive them, in suicide attacks, into U.S. targets like CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, a tactic later adopted by Osama bin Laden.
Youssef flew frequently from Manila to Cebu City in the Philippines in order to recruit potential terrorists at Southwest College in Cebu City.

 WorldNetDaily: Suit: Iraq masterminded attack
Specifically, the suit details meetings between Nichols and Ramzi Youssef, the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, during Nichols' travel to the Philippines between 1990 and 1994.
The suit says that prior to the Gulf War, "Iraq had developed a covert network in the United States to acquire materials for weapons of mass destruction." After the war, the suit alleges, "Iraq converted that network into organized terrorist cells," some of which "were directly involved in" the OKC bombing.
"Youssef also conceived of plans to highjack planes bound for the United States in order to dive them, in suicide attacks, into U.S. targets like CIA headquarters … a tactic later adopted by [al-Qaida terrorist group founder] Osama bin Laden," the suit said.
