		In 1568, during the reign of Pratap's father Rana Udai Singh II, Mewar was conquered by the Mughal Emperor Akbar; its capital Chittor was sacked.
		Rana Pratap greivously insulted Raja Man Singh on this point; the latter came back at the head of a huge Mughal army.
		However, Rana Pratap made good his escape to the hills, and later waged a guerrilla struggle against the occupying Mughal forces, with the aid of the Bhil tribesmen of the hills.
