Eric R. ("Randy") Barnes (born June 16, 1966) is an American shot putter who holds outdoor and indoor distance records.
Barnes was born in Charleston, West Virginia and began shot putting in high school.
Barnes was banned from competing for 27 months after testing positive for the anabolic steroid methyltestosterone at Malmo, Sweden on August 7th that same year.

Randy was only in sixth place prior to his final throw, but responded in the final round with a throw of 21.28m, to win the silver medal behind 1988 Olympic gold medallist Ulf Timmermann (East Germany).
Barnes produced a number of good performances during the 1989 outdoor season, although at the World Cup in Barcelona on 8 September, he only finished third behind Timmermann and Werner Gunthor (Switzerland).
Barnes returned to competition in February 1993, and quickly established his supremacy by winning the USA national championships at Eugene on 18 June.
