Randy Brecker was born into a very Musical family in 1945 in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia.
Randy and his younger brother Michael (Grammy winning saxophonist) and sister Emily (classical pianist) grew up in a home with Musical instruments laying throughout the living room with regular weekend jam sessions.
Randy has already carved out a spot in jazz history as one of the few jazz Musicians who is equally at home playing jazz, pop, rhythm and blues, and jazz-fusion.

Randy Brecker is a veteran of some of he best bands of the last thirty years including "Blood, Sweat and Tears," "Dreams," "Brecker Brothers," and the bands of Art Blakey, Horace Silver, and Charles Mingus.
Brecker's hard-edged style has echoes of Miles Davis and Clifford Brown, but his primary influence is Freddie Hubbard.
Brecker relies heavily on pentatonic scales and fourths, and while his playing is usually punchy and funky, he frequently plays outside of the time with ripping lines that have a rhythmic energy and logic that defies the tyranny of the beat and bar line.

Branching out again in 1995, Randy toured Japan as a special guest with Stanley Turrentine and, as a leader, was one of the first Western jazz artists to tour for several weeks throughout Poland.
Randy closed the year on tour with the Mingus Big Band across the U.S. and South America and the Carnegie Hall Big Band in Europe.

The title track is a funker from the pen of Galper that bears the influence of one of Randy’s employers at the time, Blood, Sweat and Tears.
The rhythm section lays out for “The Weasel Goes to Lunch,” in which Randy and Michael peck extemporaneously at “Pop Goes the Weasel.” “Morning Song” follows, and is a nice bossa groove with some 60s jazz kicks and harmonies.
Randy demonstrates his mastery of motivic development on this tune and “Pipe Dream.” The band funks out once again with “The Vamp,” a nod to the Isley Brothers’ “It’s Your Thing.” “The Marble Sea” is a Randy Brecker bossa that highlights his lyricism.
