Ranfurly is the largest settlement in the Maniototo district of Otago, New Zealand.
Ranfurly grew at the expense of Naseby as the gold rush declined, and the arrival of the Railway in the town in 1898 spurred on the town's growth.
Ranfurly lies close to the heart of New Zealand's curling-playing region, and the local club have represented New Zealand at the 1999, 2004, and 2005 World Championships (finishing tenth, seventh and eighth respectively), as well as providing members for the New Zealand 2006 Winter Olympics curling team.

In 1901, the Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of New Zealand, announced his intention of presenting a cup to the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, of which he was patron.
Ranfurly made no stipulation as to what form the competition for the trophy should take, leaving the national union to decide.
The centre-piece was duly altered and on 13 September, 1902, the shield was presented by the Governor to G.H.Dixon, the Auckland delegate to the NZRFU.

 Auckland Northland Regiment: a history
In the upper canton (quarter) are the battalion III and in the upper outer canton the 3rd Auckland Countess of Ranfurly’s Regiment badge and in the law canton the 15th Northland Regiment badge.
The colours of the Auckland and the North Auckland Regiments were laid up in the World War II hall of memories at the Auckland Museum on the fourth of March 1973 but its set of colours were displayed together and both sets of Regimental Colours were emblazoned with their World War II battle honours.
This date was allied to the Countess of Ranfurly presenting the affairs set of colours to the Battalion on Wednesday the 24th of May 1899, in the Auckland Domain, which in turn was the first anniversary of the date of the formation of the Battalion.
