 Unsung Heroes: Ground Breaking Games
Modem Wars was created from the ground up as a fun multiplayer game at a time when most companies were focusing on the single-player experience.
Modem Wars ran at an extremely low resolution and had only a few colors to work with, but the superb mouse-driven interface packed a lot of information into that cramped space.
Modem Wars may not have been a financial success, but it painted a surprisingly accurate picture of where the RTS genre would eventually end up.

 Range Wars Continue
Range wars continue, just as they did a century ago, between those who have grazing rights and those who do not.
Today these range wars pit ranchers, with state grazing leases, against the environmental groups that are trying to restore the grazing lease areas to a healthy and pristine land.
The war began rather peacefully with conservation agencies teaming up with the ranchers who wanted to improve the land they were leasing.

 Open range? by Larry Gabriel
Open range is a traditional term that no longer means what it once did, but people cling to it like it was granddad's favorite LC Smith shotgun.
In the old cowboy days, (1850s to 1890s) open range meant a place where anyone (including a lot of foreign investors and speculators) could run their livestock and not pay for the grazing privileges.
The rest of the world may not understand our "open range", but our law is accomplishing one of its goals.

Homesteaders began fencing their acres and small ranchers their grass, and the proponents of the open range were brought face-to-face with their greatest challenge.
The Johnson County War and its disastrous outcome demonstrated to cattlemen that range wars were not the solution to their problems.
The range was still as good as ever, and stood an excellent chance of recovering from the overgrazing.

 Handbook of Texas Online:
The so-called sheep wars, conflicts between cattlemen and sheepmen over grazing rights, took place particularly between the early 1870s and 1900.
Nomadic sheepmen or drifters were attacked by both cattlemen and settled sheepmen because of their twisting or rolling of fences to allow passage of their flocks and because they drove sheep infected with scab across the ranges.
a felony and abolished the open range, both the cattleman and the sheepman confined their herds to their own land, and the sheep wars came to an end.

Range Wars is an excellent tool for congregations, study groups, and individuals who wish to promote discussion about the consequences of our energy choices.
Energy is an essential component of thriving communities, but over-reliance on fossil fuels has a tremendous impact on the planet and the life which it sustains, degrading air and water quality, destroying wildlife and human habitats, and forever altering magnificent landscapes.

 Range Wars
In reality, however, it was the latest skirmish in a long, bitter war over management of the West's vast acreage of public lands.
And while the announcement that grazing-permit holders would be forced to move cattle off their federal allotments -- which some small ranchers say means selling the animals -- might have seemed like cattlemen were losing this battle, it now appears that nothing much will happen.
In early July, Eloy Garcia, a 70-year-old rancher in Chamita, received a letter telling him to remove 40 percent of his cattle from the Chicoma allotment, an area on the Continental Divide adjacent to the Valles Caldera National Preserve, the 89,000-acre former Baca Ranch purchased two years ago by the federal government.

Most would agree that George Lucas’ Star Wars universe is rife with possibilities for great games, and most would also agree that the games based on that universe haven’t always been that great.
The library of Star Wars games range from the incredible (Knights of the Old Republic, the Jedi Knight series) to the mediocre (Clone Wars, Episode One Racer) to the flat-out awful (Force Commander).
There is still some fear, of course, that this game could succumb to the “Star Wars Game Curse.” But even if the game ends up not being very good, there is one thing that will drive people to play it at least a few times.
