Manawatu District Mayor Ian McKelvie, a Life Member and Past President of the Rangitikei Racing Club, along with former NZ Racing Conference Chairman Jim Bull, a longtime sponsor of the Club, have been members of a special subcommittee responsible for raising sponsorship for the Sesqui meeting.
President Neil Wells said that many of the Rangitikei District families that were involved with the Club’s centenary back in 1957 are generously supporting the Club’s 150th Sesqui Anniversary.

Generally, in this district, in spring creek type fisheries, brown trout predominate, and in freestone type fisheries, rainbow trout predominate.
Scouring adversely affects the generation of aquatic insect biomass, which is the principle source of food for the rainbows and browns of the district.

"The Rangitikei Environment Group (R.E.G.) was formed in August 2001 primarily to address the problem of Clematis vitalba (Old Man’s Beard) in Rangitikei District Council reserve areas in and aound Taihape township.
Intermittent attempts at control by district and regional council agencies in the 1960s, assisted by volunteers, started to slow down the increase in infestation, but were un-coordinated and suffered from lack of continuing funding.
An application to the District Council 3 years ago for a further $20,000 annual funding was successful, and this has been applied to helicopter spraying with Versatil over this area.
