RANGPUR, or Rungpore, a town and district of British India, in the Rajshahi division of Eastern Bengal and Assam.
The greater part of it, particularly towards the east, is inundated during the rains, and the remainder is traversed by a network of streams which frequently break through their sandy banks and plough for themselves new channels over the fields.
The tract comprised within the district of Rangpur was formerly the western outpost of the ancient Hindu kingdom of Kamrup, which appears to have attained its greatest power and prosperity under Raja Nilambar, who was treacherously overthrown by Ala-uddin Hosain of Bengal at the close of the 15th century.

Trees budded on 'Rangpur' lime and 'C-13' citrange had the highest cumulative yields, and were different from trees budded on trifoliate orange, 'Cleopatra' and 'Sunki' mandarins.
The 'Rangpur' lime and 'Cleopatra' mandarin rootstocks determined greater percentages of dead 'Tahiti' lime trees on the 12th year, and the cause of death of trees grafted on 'Rangpur' lime was root rot.
Trees budded on 'Cleopatra' mandarin produced rootstock suckers and presented differences between the diameters of the rootstock and the scion, suggesting inadequate affinity of this rootstock with 'Tahiti' lime was the cause of death of the trees.

RDRS Bangladesh (Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service) is a respected, long-established development NGO working to empower the rural poor in northern Bangladesh for over 34 years.
Once the two regions of Rangpur and Dinajpur were considered among the remotest parts of the country, and their people among the poorest and least developed.
But the years since Independence in 1971 have seen great changes in the area, in both the physical and the social landscapes; the opening of the Jamuna Bridge in 1998, an historic event in itself, was merely the latest cog in the wheel of development bringing new vitality to the region.

Ahmadiyya persecution picks up speed - Editorial - The Daily Star, Bangladesh
When the authorities, whose duty it is to protect every person within their jurisdiction, are unwilling to take steps to safeguard a threatened community, then they must be considered just as culpable as those who actually commit the violence.
The disgraceful dereliction of their duty to protect the minority community renders the local Rangpur police complicit in the atrocities.
It is bad enough that the government caved in to its extremist allies and banned Ahmadiyya publications, thereby emboldening the anti-Ahmadiyya zealots and further marginalising the community.
