		Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, Hamlet, pop 2177 (2001c), 2058 (1996c), 1706 (1991c), area 20.24 km
		Named after Rankin Inlet (discovered by John Rankin), on which it sits, the community was established as a mining centre in 1955 by North Rankin Nickel Mines.
		The second-largest community in Nunavut, Rankin inlet is also a key government, transportation and communications centre.
