There's an equally wrongheaded sibling rant, which is the eternal current of complaint lodged against Starbucks Coffee.
To reiterate comments I made on Josh Ellis' site last month, in the wake of a perhaps representative rant of this type: I drink Starbucks coffee on a fairly regular basis and am generally quite satisfied.

Matt Liddell (a very good friend o/mine) associates shopping along with taking the garbage out, doing the dishes, and other tedious tasks his mother use to make him perform when he was a little boy.
This rant doesn't due him justice because you have to hear him say the words, "I can't even stand lookin' at these people!"..to fully appreciate it.

I noticed this article in the Sub-Standard, because I’m interested in news that affects families, since I have one.
I know I keep harping on this, but you can pass all the laws you want, and the problems of underage drinking and DUI are still ones of culture, not legality.
If I were to ever set up a web hosting service, I would set up a mailing list so that customers would know in advance when their server would be going down for maintenance.

If you'd spend, say, 4x's the time to develop this super-reader you're envisioning that you spent on this rant you'd be a billionaire this time next year.
Some time ago, I had tried my hand at coding a feed reader that does a lot of things you wanted - rank feeds, rank categories, use these ratings to determine item level ranking etc. The sourcode for Intelli-Aggieis available under GPL, so if someone wants to take a look, they are more than welcome.
I also ranted a bit on why Bayesian filtering may not work on feeds.

For which my basic response is "fat chance if your budget is $30m+, and the money providers will inevitably want to minimize any possible risk." Nice sentiment, but the reality of the market in which you operate makes what you want to achieve essentially impossible.
