At that time, of course, there were no parallel jurisdictions based on nationality.
In December of 1901 Archimandrite RAPHAEL was elected as Bishop of Zahleh.
The first issue was printed in January 1905, and Saint RAPHAEL considered this milestone as one equal in importance to the acquisition of St Nicholas Cathedral and the parish cemetery.

Saint Raphael of Brooklyn (November 20, 1860 – February 27, 1915) was born as Raphael Hawaweeny (Arabic: رفائيل هواويني‎) in Damascus, Syria.
Saint Raphael was originally buried in New York until August 1989 when his relics were translated to the Antiochian Village Camp in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, on property of the Antiochian Archdiocese along with several other bishops and clergy.

The Balamand Seminary, the only school for the training of clergy in the Patriarchate of Antioch, had been closed in 1840, so when Raphael expressed his desire to study for the Priesthood he was sent to the Ecumenical Patriarchates Theological University on the island of Halki, about 30 miles from Constantinople.
Saint Nicholas, although now located at a different location in Brooklyn, is still considered the “mother church” of the Arab Orthodox on this continent, and is the first Cathedral of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America.
