Metal Reviews - Review of Divine Rapture - The Burning Passion
Being that Divine Rapture are a band that is basically more or less from my hometown, and I have known about for a long time before they got signed by Listenable, and knowing this is not their debut album (hat would be their 1999 s/t) I can more or less vouch for that description.
Divine Rapture is more of a dark and atmosperic band than Vehemence though, with odd clips of shrill and horrified screaming abound the album as well as eeiry parts and odd instruments being used in parts.
The actual instrumentation of the band is fairly technical, I know the guys took alot of time putting this album together, not wanting to settle for too little, and it seems to have paid off, this will most likely be on a good amount of Death metallers top 20's atleast for the year.

The Rapture first catapulted into the public’s consciousness (and by “public” I mean a very small percentage of New Yorkers and an even smaller percentage of everyone else) with the release of the infectious single “House of Jealous Lovers” in 2002.
Plagued by delays and a record label switch, it took the band until just recently to release Echoes, a full-length follow-up to their Out Of The Races And Onto The Tracks EP, and our very own Oberlin College was chosen to be the first stop on the Echoes tour.
Not to be outdone by their opening band, however, The Rapture went out with a bang, finishing their set with Echoes’ strongest tracks.

Left to their own devices, The Rapture still sound unsure of themselves, and it's not hard to imagine Murphy and Goldsworthy wringing hands behind the scenes, wondering if they've backed the wrong horse.

The Rapture was artier when it emerged in the late 1990's; its feet and hips were in the punk-funk of Public Image Ltd. and Gang of Four, though like those bands it had more agendas than pure physicality.
