 The Etruscans
They called themselves Rasenna and enjoyed their power and cultural superiority until they passed their heritage on to the Romans.
The result of a happy mixture of the indigenous race with visitors from Asia Minor and from the Alps, the Rasenna settled in what is known today as Tuscany.
They were masters of iron-working, they specialised in augury (nobody surpassed an Etruscan Haruspex in finding special clues by examining animals entrails and meteorological phenomenon) they were natural farmers with a talent for hydraulic engineering, they were sharp traders and great spenders.

 Etruscans and Origins
The Greeks called these same people Tyrrhenoi, and the sea, which the Greeks crossed to meet them, was the Tyrrhenian Sea, a name that has stuck until today.
The Etruscans are thought to have called themselves "Rasne" or "Rasenna" of some variant, but it is by no means clear whether they delimited themselves geographically.
Today, in contrast, Etruscans are identified linguistically: people of the Italian peninsula and Islands that spoke their unique non-Indo European language are considered to have been Etruscans.

Rassina, which, as its name suggests, comes from 'Rasenna', or Etruscans, is the zone of Casentino where this ancient civilisation seems to have been most important.
According to some the Rassina torrent represented the northern limit of the control exercised by the lucumon (magistrate) of Arezzo.
Another centre worthy of note is the little village of Salutio, which gets its name from the old parish church dedicated to Sant'Eleuterio.

LINGUIST List 12.571: New: Initial "R"s in Hittite?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-05)
Why this matters is, that the nation/confederation of Arzawa, defeated by the Hittites a few generations before the fall of Troy, might be Razawa, parsed as Raza-wa, homeland of Raza.
The Etruscan name for themselves was Rasna or earlier Rasenna, parsed Rase-na or Rasen-na.
The simple step of identifying Raza with Rase gives the Etruscans a "Lydian" homeland.
