Rathfarnham is also home to the 13th Dublin and the 14th Dublin scout troops, the Rathfarnham Girl Guides [1],the Rathfarnham Concert Band [2] and the Ballyboden St. Enda's GAA Club [3].
Rathfarnham Protestant Parish Church on the Main St. was built in 1795 to replace the church in the old graveyard which had become inadequate for the congregation.
It is one of the newer pubs in Rathfarnham.

Rathfarnham Castle, in Dublin, was originally an Anglo-Norman castle built to defend the Pale from the Irish clans in the nearby Wicklow Mountains.
Rathfarnham Castle remained in the hands of the Connolly family until 1742 where it was then sold to Bishop Hoadley.
Rathfarnham Castle (Dublin) The date of the foundation of the Castle is uncertain, but recent research would suggest 1583 as the most likely date.

Owing to the variety of names and the independence of branches and houses, the essential unity of the institute is not readily recognized.

The Rathfarnham brick is a coarse textured predominantly red brick including a great variety of coarse and fine clasts inherited from the raw brick making sediment.
These new minerals formed during firing allowed to estimate that the firing temperature of the Rathfarnham brick reached (at least in a number of specimens) 850º-900ºC. The presence of fl core is a typical feature of the Rathfarnham brick.

Anyway, with 4 weeks to go to the first leg of my Fall Double (Dublin and Philadelphia), it was a speed session race today over 5K in the South Dublin suburb of Rathfarnham.
This is billed as a fast course, and I would tend to agree, although like all loop races, what goes up must come down, so the overall elevation level is still nil!
In the Rathfarnham 5K, the Race with Too Many Consonants and Little Variety in Vowels.
