Ratio test - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In mathematics, the ratio test is a test (or "criterion") for the convergence of a series
The test was first published by Jean le Rond d'Alembert and is sometimes known as d'Alembert's ratio test.
As seen in the previous example, the ratio test is inconclusive when the limit of the ratio is 1.

 Welcome to Powermetrix
In Ratio Testing, both the primary and secondary currents from a CT are simultaneously measured by the Powermate 330/730.
The person performing the Ratio Test must be familiar with the installation to connect the test current probe around ALL of the primary current conductors in the proper direction.
The display of percentage change in ratio removes the problems associated with customer demand changes that may occur in Burden Testing since the ratio is calculated from the secondary current relative to the primary current.

Likelihood-ratio test - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A likelihood-ratio test is a statistical test in which the ratio is computed between the maximum of the likelihood function under the null hypothesis and the maximum with that constraint relaxed.
For example, if the likelihood ratio is Λ (lambda) and the null hypothesis holds, then for commonly occurring families of probability distributions, −2 log Λ has a particularly handy asymptotic distribution.
How small is too small depends on the significance level of the test, i.e., on what probability of Type I error is considered tolerable ("Type I" errors consist of the rejection of a null hypothesis that is true).

 G-test for goodness-of-fit
The test statistic is calculated by taking an observed number (O), dividing it by the expected number (E), then taking the natural log of this ratio.
The test statistic is usually called G, and thus this is a G-test, although it is also sometimes called a log-likelihood test or a likelihood ratio test.
The usual rule of thumb is that you should use the exact test or randomization test when the smallest expected value is less than 5, and the chi-square and G-tests are accurate enough for larger expected values.

Likelihood Ratio Tests are a powerful, very general method of testing model assumptions.
In all these cases, there is a simple and very useful way to test whether the assumption is consistent with the data.
Note: While Likelihood Ratio test procedures are very useful and widely applicable, the computations are difficult to perform by hand, especially for censored data, and appropriate software is necessary.

Though acceptable ratios can vary from industry to industry, a ratio of 1.0:1 is generally acceptable to most creditors.

 Sensitivity Testing and Analysis
Early test designs such as the Probit (Bliss 1935) and Bruceton (up-and-down) (Dixon and Mood 1948) tests were developed to make testing the samples or analyzing the data as simple as possible.
He found that the Langlie test was almost as efficient as the Bruceton test under ideal conditions (i.e., the mean and standard deviation were close to the initial guesses) and that the Langlie test was much more efficient than the Bruceton test when not much was known about the mean or the standard deviation.
If these tests are utilized, the experimenter could achieve the same precision and accuracy as with the standard sensitivity tests, but with a fraction of the sample size, for a significant savings in both specimen cost and experimenter time.

Gradient ratio test results are reported from the commissioning of a device that was modified to impose dynamic cyclic flow.
Consequently, tests at the higher frequency yielded unsteady flow in the sample, while tests at the lower frequency resulted in steady flow during each half cycle.
Therefore, a recommendation is made that testing of filtration compatibility in dynamic cyclic flow include a stage of slow flow reversal (or alternatively unidirectional flow) to permit a quantification of water head distribution under steady flow.

The OxLDL/HDL Ratio Test is likely to become the key biomarker for the diagnosis and therapeutic management of patients with accelerated atherosclerosis (as found in diabetes, renal disease, and lupus) and subclinical coronary artery disease.
The results of the study of Johnston and her colleagues further indicate that the OxLDL/HDL Ratio Test could indeed replace and succeed the LDL-cholesterol test, which is the most widely used blood lipid test in clinical practice today.
Thus, the OxLDL/HDL Ratio Test is an indicator of the balance between the deposition and the removal of cholesterol in the atherosclerotic plaques.

Production Code Vs Unit Tests Ratio
Any prescribed ratio, is absolutely useless, unless someone is able to show a preponderence of evidence that the correlation between the ratio and the 100% code coverage (which is the real target) follows some normal distribution centered around 1:1 value.
Emotionally, I would start to be concerned if the quantity of test code were to be come equal to the production code, because it would appear that the test code may become a higher risk area than the code itself.
If open-source projects tend not to focus on Unit Tests as much as the XP gurus would like us to believe is necessary, yet we do have plenty examples of SoftwareMasterpieces in such settings, then maybe there's a lesson to be learned.

Gene expression ratio test predicts treatment-related outcome in mesothelioma   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) April 23, 2003 - A test that measures the level of expression of four genes in pleural mesothelioma tissue samples accurately predicts treatment-related outcome, researchers report in the April 16th issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
They analyzed gene expression profiling data collected prior to treatment from 17 mesothelioma patients who had "considerably different survival times." "A four-gene expression ratio test statistically significantly (P=0.0035) predicted treatment-related patient outcome in mesothelioma independent of the histologic subtype of the tumor," they report.
The test remained highly accurate in independent cross-validation studies involving 29 mesothelioma patients.
