Rattata - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rattata is, perhaps, the single most common Pokémon found in the Kanto and Johto regions, encountered frequently in a multitude of locations.
Rattata has high speed and a decent attack stat, but the rest of its attributes are low.
Rattata has made a few appearances in the Pokémon anime, usually as an incidental, background Pokémon.

Rattata (Japanese: コラッタ Koratta, German: Rattfratz, French: Rattata) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

Rattata's name originally had a "K" at the end, but it was dropped.

Raticate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Raticate can be found in several locations within Kanto and Johto, and can also be obtained by evolving the Rattata found in abundance in those regions.
It can, however, learn two moves exclusive moves to Rattata and itself: Hyper Fang, which does heavy damage and may cause flinching, and Super Fang, which halves the opponent’s current HP.
A good double-battle combo technique for a Raticate with the Guts ability is to have its partner inflict a status problem (poison, burn, etc.) on Raticate while the latter is holding a status-curing berry.

Pokemon Crystal Pokemon of the Day: Rattata (#19) - IGN FAQs
Though Rattata and its evolved form Raticate do tend to struggle through the later stages of the game, when fully raised they can be a nasty surprise in trainer battles.
As you can see, none of Rattata's stats are awe-inspiring (they're all pitifully weak, actually, though for the purposes of this moveset I'm going to pretend it has Raticate's stats so as not to insult it unduly).
Rattata probably won't live very long if you opt for the risky Hyper Beam, but it is doubtful that any trainer would find themselves relying on Rattata as the backbone of their team and thus we can afford to have a little fun with it.

Rattata is a Normal type Pokemon, which means it doesn't really have any particular strengths.
Origin: Rattata is an attack-happy rat, so its name is naturally a combination of the words rat and attack.
