A statesman, jurist (solicitor), journalist and a teacher, Rauf Denktaş was born in Baf town in Cyprus on 24 January 1924.
Denktaş worked as a prosecutor until 1957 and he was elected as a President for Cyprus Turk Society Federation by the help of Fazıl Küçük.
Rauf Denktaş could get the support of Turkey and other international establishments in a short time and started to organize Cyprus Turks against Greeks who were already armed for a war.
