The stadium itself, well, the Kop stand is on par with whats required, however the south and railway stands would need demolished, basically ruling out any use of windsor for quite a while because that incorporates the player changing rooms, bars, and main entrance.

The Labour Party - Northern Ireland - - The Development of a Multi Sports Stadium in Northern Ireland
A new stadium is needed predominantly for Northern Ireland football, which could be used, on rare occasions, for large rugby football matches.
Labour considers that a stadium could be planned for both association and rugby football, whose pitch size requirements are similar, but that the pitch size requirements for gaelic games could not be easily combined with the other sporting codes without significant loss of ground atmosphere.
The willingness of the sporting governing bodies to "go along" with Government plans is motivated by an unwillingness to "pull the plug" on the others, as well as by a natural desire to remain "sweet" with Government in relation to wider Government support to their respective sports.

Slugger O'Toole: Maze site well ahead in sports stadium race...
Because the whole point of the stadium is that, by throwing a splurge of cash in one go at this gleaming white elephant, the NIO can claim to be doing something for local sport, without actually devoting any imagination to it.
A stadium in or near the city centre would allow supporters to have a couple of drinks and a bite to eat before or after the match and then hit the pubs should they so wish.
The Maze stadium is just another example of the kind of unenlightened short-termism that has ensured that Belfast has not made anything like the kind of post-troubles strides it might have.

 Slugger O'Toole: No new stadium?
I agree we need a new stadium and the Maze is preferable to none, but those weren't the two options, regardless of what way the government are trying to spin it.
From the start this stadium was more about politics than sport, hence the twisting of the collective arm of the GAA to be involved in something that they have no need for.
The main obstacle to actually building a new stadium, from my view, is that Ulster Rugby have said they're going to play next to no matches there, after committing to 15 of the 'magic number' of 30 games a year.

This was a small intimate stadium, and it seemed similar to a high school football match, even though the eventual champion Aussies were the best in the World at the time.
