The New York State Independent System Operator (ISO) reported in late February that while New York City is expected to meet its supply requirement this summer, the forecasted demand of 11,020 MW is well above the record-setting 10,650 MW during the very hot summer of 2001.

This was approved, and the new House became known as ‘York’, the name in keeping with the theme of the existing Houses.
The first House Captain was Jolieske Lips, and she enthusiastically led York through the many events in which Houses competed, including the Music Festival, which was established only 5 years earlier.

OSHA Health and Safety partnerships are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships with labor unions and employers.
A previously signed partnership covers the Ravenswood cogeneration power plant being built in Long Island City, N.Y. This is the second partnership to be signed covering the combined-cycle power plant at the Charles M. Poletti Generating Station in Astoria, N.Y. The generating station will add 500 megawatts to New York City's power supply.

The state's power plant siting board is expected to approve on Wednesday a 250-megawatt expansion of KeySpan's Ravenswood plant in Astoria, Queens.
The approval would be the second plant expansion approved for the city in the past week; the board on Tuesday gave a certificate to Consolidated Edison to expand its Manhattan East River plant by 360 megawatts.
