I was first introduced to Ravi Shankar and his music through the Concert For Bangladesh album; I was a schoolboy of about 9 when it came out, and had the pleasure of seeing the master perform in December 1996, kicking off his "75th year" tour.
There is a notion of being in time, which Ravi explains better in a tangible way than anyone, in a way we can all relate to - the rhythym of the human touch and stroke, and there is a notion of being outside time, the outsideness of dreaming, and the insideness of feeling.
Ravi does a fair share of talking on this CD...and while the info is interesting enough...some listeners may find the vocals distracting.
