Ray Bauduc was a trend setter in traditional jazz circles.
Bauduc toured in 1924 with Johnny Bayersdorffer, then worked with the Scranton Sirens; this group included Billy Lustig in 1925 and Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang in 1926.
Bauduc and Nappy Lamare headed a Rampart band from 1956-1959, and he worked as a freelance player on the West Coast in the '60s, finally moving to Bellaire, TX, where he occasionally performed.

Ray spent two years with a vaudevillian band led by Fred Rich playing drums and doing tap, and played with Miff Mole in 1927.
Bauduc spent six years (1928- 1934) with Ben Pollack's orchestra, and also found time for sessions with Red Nichols, Jack Teagarden, Benny Goodman, Wingy Manone, Louis Prima and Glenn Miller.
Bauduc and Nappy Lamare headed Rampart band from 1956 - 1959, and he worked as a freelance player on the West Coast inn the '60s, finally moving to Bellaire, TX.

Bauduc's regular feature with the band, The Big Crash From China, provided an excellent example of his intelligent soloing and superb cymbal work.
From 1960, Bauduc lived in Texas in semi-retirement, but visited New Orleans in 1983 where he was greeted effusively.

Ray Sherman was born on the North side of Chicago on April 15, 1923.
In the early I950s, besides doing studio work, Ray appeared in night clubs and did recordings with Ben Pollack's "Pick-a-rib Boys." It was at this time that he served as musical director and composer for the UPA cartoon "The Oompahs" which featured the Pollack group.
In 1954 Ray spent several months working on the movie "Pete Kelly's Blues," both on camera and on the sound track, as a member of the group "Pete Kelly's Big Seven." He can also be heard on several recordings featuring this group.

Yes, Ray "The above average" Bauduc shared his almost-great career with the likes of Bob Crosby's Bobcats and a little with the 2nd greatest trombonist, Jack Teagarden.
Known as the primary exponent of Dixieland drums, Bauduc could also swing with the best of them and was a favorite of Krupa, Rich and Bellson.
Most of his most famous works, including his one big hit, "Big Noise From Winnetka" (where he played his sticks on the bass strings of Bob Haggart) were performed during his time with Bob Crosby and The Bobcats, from 1935 to 1942.
