Ray County is a county located in the state of Missouri.
The county was organized in 1820 and named for John Ray, Missouri state legislator.
In the county the population is spread out with 27.50% under the age of 18, 7.40% from 18 to 24, 28.30% from 25 to 44, 23.90% from 45 to 64, and 12.80% who are 65 years of age or older.

Rejected as a president of the church in Missouri with his brother, David, and W. Phelps; excommunicated, flees to Richmond, Missouri in June after receiving threatening document signed by Hyrum Smith and others.

The Land Patents Project at the Missouri State Archives is an ongoing project to transcribe information from the state-issued land patents to create a database of patent information, useful in placing an individual in a specific location at a specific time.
The Missouri State Archives holds nearly 1½ million pages that document the service of Missourians in domestic and foreign wars between 1812 and World War I. These military records primarily consist of individual service cards, but the extensive collection also includes muster rolls, special orders, reports, and more.
