  Ray Romano - Biography
Ray Romano admits that he always knew he could make his friends laugh, but he never really gave stand-up comedy any serious thought until one fateful open-mic night at a New York comedy club in 1984.
Ray made his big screen debut as the voice of “Manny” the wholly mammoth, in the 20th Century Fox smash hit, “Ice Age,” and will be appearing in the sequel, “Ice Age 2,” due out in the spring of 2006.
Ray is also the author of the New York Times best-selling book based on his comedy, “Everything And A Kite.” He has also written a children’s book along with his brothers, Richard and Robert, entitled, “Raymie, Dickie, and the Bean: Why I Love and Hate My Brothers,” released in March 2005.

Ray Romano / Welcome to Mooseport Interview
Ray Romano seems to have a lot in common with his famous television alter ego.
In the meantime, Romano wants to make it down that there is life outside the TV show, beginning with the film Welcome to Mooseport, in which he plays Handy Harrison, an unwilling political candidate up against a former US president [Gene Hackman], set in a small town.
On the surface, when one sees Romano at work at Mooseport, it is clear that the actor was not necessarily trying to complete escape his TV character, yet still wanted to do something that would show off his comedic skills.

Although Ray Romano has been hinting for two years that he and ''Everybody Loves Raymond'' creator Phil Rosenthal wanted to pull the plug on the series after its eighth and current season, lest the show jump the shark, Romano now says he's ''almost sure'' the show will be back next fall, Reuters reports.
One reason Romano may now be reluctant to give up his post as the highest-paid performer on TV (he earns almost $2 million per episode) is the far-from-welcoming response that greeted his first leading role in a live-action movie, last month's ''Welcome to Mooseport,'' which he joked about at Saturday's benefit.
