	Forward the Foundation (1993)
		Seldon enjoys the protection of First Minister Demerzel and the benign attention of Emperor Cleon I. The first part deals with the rising threat of the demagogue Joranum (JoJo), whose populist slogans find ready audience with the apathetic Trantorians.
		Seldon sends Raych to tell JoJo a tall story, which the latter (somewhat incredibly) swallows whole: Demerzel is a robot.

		The premise of the series is that scientist Hari Seldon spent his life developing a branch of mathematics known as psychohistory, a concept devised by Asimov and Campbell.
		Hari Seldon himself hopes that his Plan will "reduce 30,000 years of dark ages and barbarism to a single millennium." Psychohistory is based on group trends, and cannot predict with sufficient accuracy the effects of these individuals, and the Second Foundation's true purpose was to counter this flaw.
		Ultimately, the revised, retconned historical timeline implemented by Asimov during the 1980s is considered to be the canonical one, with the previous references serving as quaint anachronistic gaffes by the characters (perhaps due to in-universe reasons, such as the inevitable distortion of accurate historical recordkeeping over the vast gulf of tens of thousands of years).
