TEHRAN, Mar. 8 (MNA) — Some 161 tons saffron valued at $76 million have been exported via Khorasan Razavi Province since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2005), Mohammad Esmaeilnia, the head of the Agricultural Jihad Department of the province announced Wednesday.
Esmaeilnia explained that the whole saffron production of the country is as much as 220 tons, 78 percent of which is produced in Khorasan Razavi Province.
South Khorasan Province produces 19 percent of the whole saffron and the rest is produced in other provinces, he added.

The new bill creates a Northern Khorasan Province, with Bojnurd as its capital; a Southern Khorasan province, with Birjand as its capital; and Mashhad, which currently is the capital of Khorasan Province, would be capital of Khorasan Razavi Province.

Razavi Khorasan, Feb 25, IRNA -A tremor measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale hit the vicinity of Neishabour in Razavi Khorasan province Saturday afternoon.
According to Khorasan's Seismological Network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 16:10 hours local time (12:40 GMT).
The tremor was felt in an area located at 58.36 degrees in longitude and 36.31 degrees in latitude, the report added.
