Corporeal reanimation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Corporeal reanimation is the theoretical concept of reanimating a dead organism, restoring its living functions and enabling it to move and to freely interact with the world of the living as it did when it was alive.
Reanimation also refers to alleged supernatural phenomena in which the souls of deceased persons reinhabit their dead bodies and return to this world, usually to complete unfinished business.
An example of reanimation appears in the Caribbean tradition of voodoo: the zombie.

Reanimation (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Reanimation is a remix album by Linkin Park, released after and based upon their first album, Hybrid Theory.
Reanimation tends to be eschewed by many fans, consisting as it does of a great stylistic step away from Hybrid Theory.
Reanimation was very rap-styled, as opposed to Hybrid Theory's nu-metal format, which had Chester Bennington singing while Mike Shinoda rapped.

Reanimation of the Paralized Face (Nov.1998)
This has led to the development of numerous reanimation techniques.(1) The ability to restore symmetry and motion to patients afflicted with facial paralysis is one of the most rewarding skills of the reconstructive surgeon.
To perform reanimation procedures, the surgeon must have a thorough knowledge of the anatomy of the facial nerve.
Factors influencing the timing and performance of facial reanimation procedures include: presence of partial regeneration, donor consequences, proximal and distal nerve integrity, viability of facial muscles, status of donor nerves, time elapse since injury, age, radiation injury, other metabolic or vascular disorders, and nutrition.

 VCURES - Virginia Commonwealth University
Reanimation Engineering is the process of restoring the victim of shock back to their functional pre-insult status.
The entire process may span from the home, to the prehospital emergency medical services system, to the emergency department, to the operating room, to the intensive care unit, to the rehabilitation center, and to the home again.
These methods apply to all settings where the acutely ill or injured might be encountered and range from the single patient in a small rural hosptial to large numbers of patients that will be present after a disaster.

Herbert West: Reanimator by H. P. Lovecraft   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-20)
He felt that he was needlessly and irrationally retarded in a supremely great work; a work which he could of course conduct to suit himself in later years, but which he wished to begin while still possessed of the exceptional facilities of the university.
That the tradition-bound elders should ignore his singular results on animals, and persist in their denial of the possibility of reanimation, was inexpressibly disgusting and almost incomprehensible to a youth of West’s logical temperament.
This assurance he gave readily enough; reminding me that the reanimating solution was never used without careful tests as to life, since it could have no effect if any of the original vitality were present.

Reanimation is not a typical "remix" CD, (don't hit the panic button, it's nothing like J.
Reanimation is still rock but the CD has a hip-hop meets electronica kinda feel to it with way more scratchin' and rap than on Hybrid Theory.
If you live for Linkin Park then I would definitely suggest pickin' up a copy of Reanimation but if this is your intro to Linkin I would put my dollars on their first disc instead.

InternetEd Rock and Rap Reviews: Linkin Park- Reanimation   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-20)
Reanimation is essentially a new album, though it consists of remixes from Linkin Park’s powerhouse debut CD, Hybrid Theory.
Instead, you can see the hard work that went into Reanimation-- forming an album that combines hardcore rap, metal guitar chops, record scratching, dissected beats, and a host of guest vocalists including Aaron Lewis (Staind) and Jonathan Davis (Korn).
Linkin Park’s radio mainstay, “1Stp Klosr” gets mutated on Reanimation into a totally new song, and the big-hit track,“Krwlng” is reworked with a symphonic backing and a generally calmer, but equally emotional performance.

Reanimation is the evil twin of Linkin Park's 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory.
I myself am a hard-core fan of underground hip-hop, not the ridiculous rap you hear more than often on the radio, but the clever, positive messages that intertwine their way through the master wordplay of a talented emcee.
Oddly enough, "Reanimation" showcases some of the most talented underground emcees, backed with EXACTLY the potent, emotional production and melodies they need to showcase their talent.

Rolling Stone : Reanimation : Review
Shinoda is the mastermind here, overseeing the project (along with Linkin Park DJ Joseph "Chairman" Hahn) to turn down the rock vocals, de-emphasize the riffs and cut a host of illustrious underground hip-hop names in on the action.
Reanimation definitely goes overboard on the atmospherics: Without the high-resolution hooks and guitar-rock crunch of Hybrid Theory, the tracks tend to blur together in unflattering patterns.
The music isn't exactly groundbreaking, and none of the remixes improve on the Hybrid Theory originals, but the boyish energy of Reanimation has its own appeal, and it's not too far emotionally from the tried-so-hard spirit of "In the End." Commercially expedient though it may be, it's also a labor of love.

Linkin Park : Reanimation - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Which brings us to Linkin Park's Reanimation, a generous 20-track remix record of their debut Hybrid Theory that the band has vaguely alluded to as their art project.
This may not be particularly pleasing to those who loved the angst-ridden rock theatrics of the debut, but it's a damn sight more interesting than that debut, helping Linkin Park distinguish themselves from the adolescently tortured rap-rock pack.
But, compared to what they've done before, and compared to their peers, Reanimation is arty and a welcome step in the right direction.

Linkin Park, after absolutely shattering preconceptions of rap/metal last year with [Hybrid Theory], has slipped [Reanimation], a remix album, onto the scene to tantalize their fans still awaiting an original sophomore album.
And so, what they've given us in the meantime can only realistically be held to a certain bar - after all, it's only a reinterpretation of an album that most fans have already listened to hundreds upon hundreds of times.
But once you've established what [Reanimation] is, it carries its own weight quite capably.

Reanimation sit's somewhere in between electronica, rock and hip-hop, it's this diversity that makes for such an interesting album.
The film scoresque 'opening' creates the mood, deep cello, violin and piano mould together to create a haunting atmosphere, as the outro fades out 'PTS.OF.ATHRTY' fades in, taking the original to a whole new level it's five minutes of tearing guitars, explosive electronic sounds and vocals that have been manipulated to sound twisted and robotic.
Also worthy of note in this release is the artwork, the battlescapes, robotic blueprints and anime style imagery all help to convey a deep and dark mood, leading their own graphic design and direction is further proof why LP are elite.

There is only one production that seems out of place to me, and it's on the worst possible song - "In The End." This was their biggest hit from "Hybrid Theory" and fans were expecting more out of it than any other cut on the record (at least I was).
They've managed to use it to produce new sounds we've never heard before and to overall improve the quality of their sounds.
On "Reanimation" the editing is used as an instrument as much as anything else.

eMedicine - Dynamic Reanimation for Facial Paralysis : Article Excerpt by: Steven M Parnes, MD   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-20)
Numerous reanimation techniques are available to restore function and are based on the cause of the facial paralysis, type of injury and its location, and the anticipated duration.
Techniques for facial reanimation have a long and protracted history, but it was not until the modern era with the advent of finer sutures, magnification, and better understanding of physiology that results from reanimation techniques dramatically improved.
Therefore, realistic expectations must be established at the initial encounter and candidly discussed between the physician and the patient.

Perhaps Linkin Park realized this shift, since ''Reanimation'' is a hostile rap takeover of ''Hybrid Theory'' rather than a modest recasting of its songs.
Abdul's 1990 remix project, ''Shut Up and Dance,'' was among the most brazen, since she, like Linkin Park, had released only one album up to that point.
So perhaps ''Reanimation'' is Linkin Park's way of both paying homage to a true pioneer of the field and finding a clever way to lure some of those millions of ''American Idol'' watchers to the Linkin Park bins.

It's been less than two years since they released their debut album Hybrid Theory, and they've already had a handful of hits, played an insane amount of shows -- over 300 last year alone -- and copped a Grammy for best hard rock performance for Crawling.
Trouble is, when you spend all that time striking while the iron is hot, you never get a chance to put any new irons in the fire.
So, presumably as a stopgap release, we now have the remix album Reanimation.

 IGN: Reader Review: Reanimation
Most artists' wait until they at least have more than two albums in their canon before doing a remix album, but Linkin Park obviously decided to go against the flow on this one.
And compared to their previous album, Hybrid Theory, the bulk of Reanimation is a much more hip-hop orientated affair.
The album begins with a short intro of string instruments, but soon kicks into the first remix, "Points of Authority" featuring Jay Gordan of Orgy.

The main strong point of Linkin Park is their dynamic sound that, rather than being a 'confusion of sound', instead is a 'co-fusion of sound' with a myriad of styles and elements that really do work together.
The Reanimation record goes far in achieving this role.
This album is far more than just a 'Remix' record and to describe it as such is really selling it short.
