Reading West is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
The constituency comprises the western part of the Borough of Reading (specifically the wards of Battle, Kentwood, Minster, Norcot, Southcote, Tilehurst and Whitley) together with the parishes of Holybrook, Pangbourne, Purley-On-Thames, Sulham, Theale and Tilehurst in West Berkshire District.
It is bounded by the constituencies of Newbury, Henley, Reading East, and Wokingham.

The constituency is dominated by Luton airport and the Vauxhall car plant, and it came as a major blow to the area when Vauxhall announced that they plan to close their plant by mid 2002 with the loss of 2,000 jobs.
Pronounced Blakely, the seat lies in the north of Manchester and borders the suburbs of Prestwich to the west and Chadderton and Failsworth to the east.
Reading is now seen as the capital of the Thames Valley and was disappointed recently to have had its application for city status rejected.

An English Parliament, with the same powers as the Scottish Parliament, and running alongside the existing UK Parliament would lead to the creation of two parliaments and governments within one.
This would mean that a UK Government, elected on a UK mandate, might find itself unable to deliver key policies on which it had been elected.
The polls I have seen indicate that if there is not already majority support for an English Parliament, it is only because the figures involved are, as you suggest, the result of dishonest interpretation of the responses to OTHER questions.

The first clause of the Scotland Act of 1998 reads, "there shall be a Scottish parliament."<1> In May 1999 Scotland elects its first Parliament since 1707, and the Queen will formally open it on July 1st, 1999.
In 1913 a Home Rule Bill passed its second reading before being defeated at the final vote.<4> In response to this earlier home rule movement, the Government created the post of Secretary of State for Scotland in 1885 and made a cabinet position for Scotland in 1926, the so-called Scottish Office.
In November 1998 the Westminster Parliament passed the Scotland Act, as it did a Wales Act also, and it received Royal assent; the first elections to the Scottish Parliament are to be held on May 6, 1999.

These are just a few of the subjects that my constituents have raised with me over the last month or so.
As it happened I had already written to Tony Blair and Patricia Hewttt in support of the objectives of the Trade Justice Movement which is a coalition founded by Christian Aid, including charities, development and environmental agencies, churches and many voluntary organisations.
It was an interesting if futile tactic and I am delighted that an overwhelming majority of my colleagues from all parties ignored the underwear, rejected attempts to license or regulate hunting with dogs and voted for an end to this obscene and barbaric activity.
