As ANY realmode debugger does not use its own stack, you can corrupt it and restore it after doing some instructions.
Realmode debugger use/need the following things : - INT1,INT3 and INT10 - Keyboard (INT9,Port 60h and 64h) - Stack (SS and SP) ÖÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ· º Points INT1 to invalid area º º by Piotr Warezak (C) º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍͼ ¯¯ INT1 can be either reset with INT21/AX=2501h or directly with MOV.
Most realmode debugs get kicked at the SP-modify, to get every realmode tracer the JMP SP is included.

Bona Fide OSDev - The Workings of: x86-16/32 RealMode Addressing
In RealMode you can only acess 1mb of Address Space - This 1mb Maps out RAM, Video RAM, and the BIOS ROM's - Some of the memory is also taken up.
Alright, this is one of the most Complicated parts of RealMode and the x86 Architecture, But it is also one of the most important -- This will take some time to Explain, So please Bear with me and Remember: If you don't understand something read it over and over again until you do!, Lets Start...
RealMode Memory is acessed through a Segment:Offset pair - The Segment is a Memory Base, and the Offset is the Location from the Base.

I know Realmode DOS has been removed from WinMe, and I know why it was.
To clarify what I mean by my previous post: My game seems to require Realmode and Himem capabillities in DOS.
While the article allows me to access pure DOS mode, it does not add the functionality of Realmode and Himem.

Porting Memory Determinator <- Nice ring to it, eh?
I suspect you are using ASCII 13 decimal (Carriage Return) as the combination of both ASCII 13 and 10, like Unix.
Also, I was wonder if you could try adding a mechanism for other Realmode interrupts.
I would need some realmode memory space for buffering.

realmode with message passing exists, see Minix; it's just that realmode cannot enforce memory corruption.

It started as a quest to be able to use some int functions, fdd especially, but has taken on a life of its own simply because the Intel manual states that it should be possible.
The code below resets the computer whenever it gets to realmode: and a jump of any kind is performed.
This could mean that the way the segments are set up is faulty, but I cannot see where, I've never done anything like this before.

 How Win95 Handles Conventional Memory
During bootup, Win95 autoloads it's realmode drivers and system settings, such as himem.sys, ifshlp, files=, etc., with default paramaters, from a file named io.sys.
You can modify all the parameters for the realmode drivers and system settings by having them load from config.sys instead.
The HIMEM, EMM386, and DOS=UMB statements are required for access to the upper memory area, where you can load some of your realmode drivers with DEVICEHIGH= to save conventional memory.

 V2_OS Memory Management
Experience developping applications and tools for V2_OS revealed that having the possibility to request block of RealMode memory would be helpfull.
It is important also not to map base and extended memory with the same map.
When using RealMode bios interrupt, the only memory accessible is the based memory, it is therefore critical to leave this space available as much as possible for application to use during those calls or interrupts.

Runs with Windows 98, 00, ME, NT, XP(limited) using the integrated DOS 8 realmode - no Config.SYS, no Autoexec.BAT necessary -, desktop and clipboard integrated.
