 Arborescence
The first newsgroup to cover Jamband information was rec.music.phish, which began as a forum for Phish but quickly became a forum for all bands in the scene.
JamBands are influenced by a wide range of musical styles/genres including (but not limited to): rock, jazz, bluegrass, electronic, funk, and caribbean.
I envisioned the JamBand subculture symbolizing arborescence because all of the bands involved in the music subculture are connected through a passion for improvisation and live performance.

Phish.Net FAQ: Glowsticks, Glowrings, and other Glowthings
There have even been extensive concerns, at least one lawsuit, and debates on rec.music.phish about whether the band even likes them, given the risks involved.
Equipment: Beyond personal injury to band and audience, the heavier glowsticks can interfere with or harm equipment, including both recording equipment in the tapers' section as well as band rigs on stage.
Glowrings are better than glowsticks, and while the band likes the glowing, they've sent clear signals in favor of the rings.

Everclear hopes to shine in Thursday's Rec Hall performance
Everclear, led by Art Alexakis (guitar and vocals), Craig Montoya (bass), and Greg Eklund (drums), has displayed its ability to play a wide range of music with the release of two albums last year, closely tied together yet very different in style.
The concert, being put on by the University Concert Committee, is one of many planned for this year by the organization that in past years has helped bring such acts as Phish, Tori Amos, Dave Matthews Band and R.E.M. to campus.
He also started his own label, Popularity Records.

 11-28-97 Review
Newsgroups: rec.music.phish Still reeling from the Hartford first-set-opening Tweezer & the 2001 > James Brown Funky Breakdown > 2001, I entered the Centrum for the 1st of a 3 night stand.
And this was only the 1st of 3 shows at the Centrum.
The encore was well-played, I assume, although I was in such a state of shock from the set, that I kinda checked out after I realized that the encore wasn't Alumni, Bold As Love, Destiny, Tube, or a new Led Zeppelin cover, like Moby Dick ;-) Good Gawd, get this set at all costs.
