Reckless by Bryan Adams (lyrics & reviews)
The album was made when Adams was in his mid 20s and really does a great job at telling tales from a young male's perspective of someone this age.
After this album, Adams would release "Into The Fire" which might not have been the commerical monster that "Reckless" was, but would continue to the path of Adams becoming one of the premier musicians in the industry.
RECKLESS was Bryan Adams' second great album in a row, and it also defined 80s mainstream rock.

 Reckless Music at Shop Ireland
There is no doubt that this is the best Bryan Adams album of all, as much as anything because the rest of his stuff is rather average.
Having said that, Reckless is quite an enjoyable album which spawned a few timeless hits (Run to you, Heaven and Summer of '69).
Reckless is a classic Adams album, and will probably be the one a lot of his fans will prefer to his most recent work (though I loved Here I Am and Cloud No9).

And after releasing his album Bad Love (Ruf Records/US-release on Alligator under "Soul Fixing Man) in 1994 and Blue Streak (Ruf Records,TRIP/U.S. release on Alligator) in 1995, ALLISON is enjoying his biggest American comeback since moving to Paris in 1984.
The album received airplay on over 500 stations nationwide and held the number one position on the Hard Report Blues chart for an unprecedented 19 weeks.
Reckless is another giant step forward for the slash-and-burn guitarist.

Tentative Review by The Christopher Currie: Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter
Don Juan's Reckless Daughter was released in approximately the middle of this period, and is an extremely successful merger of her diverse influences.
"reckless" lifestyle and the transient nature of any communication made within this state; given her reputation in the 1970s for being involved in a series of destructive relationships, it probably wouldn't be too hazardous to guess that at least some of this has a distinctly personal edge.
This album is certainly recommended to fans of progressive and jazz-fusion stylings, many of whom may not even be aware that this aspect of Joni Mitchell's career exists.

Fortunately, it's the low point of the album, which rebounds through "Personal Magic." Opening with a bar of old-fashioned, cartoon theme-type music, it grinds into a maddened, near-rock rant to a man who has pulled the loathing of his world around him.
But Reckless Pedestrian's most solid songs are upbeat tales of woe like "I Won't Cry," not breathless complaints like "Tattered Blues." The unnamed musical rant on track 12 blends both the approaches together for a laughably a cappella chorus and an almost suicidal vocal cry in a blending that is truly unsettling.
Somehow this album was passed over on its initial release; perhaps better programming will give these pleasant, clever songs the audience they deserve this time.

The album was not released initially in the U.S., although "Hiding from Love" (written by Adams and folksinger Eric Kagna) was issued as a single and reached number 43 in the dance chart.
Adams' fourth album, Reckless, was released on his 25th birthday, November 5, 1984, preceded by the single "Run to You," which reached the Top Ten.
On this album, Adams changed gears, abandoning Lange in favor of several songwriting collaborators, the most prominent of whom was Gretchen Peters, and completely eschewing ballads in an attempt to reestablish himself as a rocker.

The album was called, wait for it, Reckless, and didn't stir up much of a brew in these parts though the Brit press went ape for it.
For a while it looked like Madden and Reckless were gonna take off like geese flying south but a series of events at home froze their little webbed feet firmly in the pond.
Without N.A. interest, Reckless began to slide into debt, Madden's darker side came into greater focus and the band was wracked by internal hassles.

 Bryan Adams - Reckless
It had taken a few years, but we'd finally figured out how to write radio-friendly pop tunes, and for much of 1984 that's exactly what we did, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
MTV website: Bryan Adams was played a great deal on the radio in 1984/5; his music was the most radio-friendly rock to have been heard in a long time.
Revisiting this album more than a decade later still confirms this; if anything, hearing him less makes you like him more.

 Daily Vault - November 9, 1998
Even today, 14 years after this album was released, it still is a lot of fun to listen to.
Reckless, as an album, is a real experience, and it's one that is worth going through, even if that does mean sitting through a few songs that don't light your fire.
The drawback to this album, of course, was the question of how Adams would follow up his smash success.

Reckless is a shining light from a dark time in the history of rock.
Reckless sold well considering it was released at a time when anything that sounded like seventies rock was shunned by many people.
Regardless of the musical direction that Adams took in the nineties I look back fondly on Reckless as a true rock album in a time when the future of rock was under threat.

The home-recorded, relatively lo-fi Miasma, Inner Marshland, Triptych and The Auntie Winnie Album are pretty much of a piece, exploring Saloman's various obsessions with abundant spirit and flashes of absurdist humor.
Various musicians appeared on Bevis Frond records in the early '90s but Superseeder was the first studio album for which Saloman fielded a full band throughout: ex-Hawkwind bassist Adrian Shaw and ex-Camel drummer Andy Ward, both members of the touring version of the Frond.
Even so, the album is packed with fine material, particularly "Artillery Row," with its sitar and harmonies, the yearning piano-based "High on a Downer" and "Portobello Man," a heartfelt archaeological elegy to Saloman's hippie muse.

The album is very much concerned with the idea of dreams, which could be thought of as its ‘theme’, and in Paprika Plains Joni quite explicitly lays out a 16 minute reverie about her life, complete with un-sung images in the form of lyrics, printed on the album cover.
The album is equally effective on unadorned songs such as the beautiful, traditional sounding closer, Silky Veils Of Ardor, on which Joni is accompanied only by her own guitar.
That this album is not considered a masterpiece can only be because of the very strong competition offered by some of her other, more commercially successful albums.

This is an album that feels like the road, written by a band of musicians that have lived that hard life for some time now.
Reckless Kelly's Wicked Twisted Road is a Texas-tinged collection of heartfelt Americana songs that follows in the emotional footsteps of Steve Earle's less political songwriting.
That said, Reckless Kelly is its own force to be reckoned with, a great roots band that skillfully mixes and matches various musical elements to make music of broad appeal, but not definition.

As was the case with their previous album, Under the Table & Above the Sun, the Texas quintet journeyed to Nashville for another collaboration with producer Ray Kennedy (whose other credits include albums by Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Jack Ingram and Nanci Griffith, among others).
Re-christened Reckless Kelly by this point (after the folk-hero Australian outlaw), the young band began hitting the honky-tonks and listening rooms in the Texas capital.
All three albums found the band refining their sound; Millican was infused with country and folk influences, while The Day layered on cranked-up electric guitars (Acoustic, with its 16-minute version of "Whole Lotta Love," was more a souvenir for the fans, but fascinating in its own right).

 Jules Shear: Unplug This
Though he's never been able to record a hit of his own, singer/songwriter Jules Shear has recorded several albums of highly accessible, hit-worthy material, and as a testiment to his abilities, he's penned hits for others including "All Through the Night" for Cyndi Lauper and "If She Knew She What She Wants" for the Bangles.
While "Slow Dancing" from the album (written by Jack Tempchin) would later be hit for Johnny Rivers, the three Shear songs were clearly the highlights of the album.
When a third album was rejected by the label, Shear forged on as a solo artist.

Rock 'n' roll, literally strained through generations of musical families, an outlaw attitude from which they took their name; the excitement and musicality of the Willie/Waylon years; and an incredible musicianship that leaves smoke coming from their instruments and audience members wet and stuck to each other.
Reckless Kelly's first CD, the Independent Millican - chock full of infectious, succinct pop songs, skillfully arranged with the bold guitar and fiddle playing, beaming harmonies and a driving rhythm section that simply rocks - rose to #9 on Gavin's Americana music chart.
Acoustic Live at Stubb's, the band's second album, gives listeners a taste of its hot live performances, which Dave Hoekstra of The Chicago Sun Times calls "must-see shows." The CD was released on their own label, Reckless Records and re-released in 2000 by Valley Entertainment.
