		Recrystallization is an often-used method for purifying solids.
		Recrystallization works by taking advantage of the different solubility properties of compounds, and allows impurities to be removed from crude solids.
		When choosing a solvent for recrystallization, the impure compound should have poor solubility in the solvent at low temperatures but be completely soluble at high temperatures.

	Recrystallization of Mica in Crenulated Schists
		I was essentially concerned with the mechanics of growth of isolated matrix mica flakes under conditions involving annealing recrystallization, and not with the mechanism of chemical transport involved in chemical differentiation, which will be attempted elsewhere.
		My point, however, that in mimetic recrystallization mica flakes grow so as to become stain-free is amply illustrated by Dr. Nicholson's photographs.

	Recrystallization
		In recrystallization, a solution is created by dissolving a solute in a solvent at or near its boiling point.
		There are five major steps in the recrystallization process: dissolving the solute in the solvent, performing a gravity filtration, if necessary, obtaining crystals of the solute, collecting the solute crystals by vacuum filtration, and, finally, drying the resulting crystals.
		A funnel with a stem is prone to premature recrystallization inside the stem because the filtrate can cool as it passes through the stem.

		Recrystallization takes place by a combination of nucleation of strain free grains and the growth of these nuclei to absorb the entire cold worked material.
		The term recrystallization temperature does not refer to a definite temperature below which recrystallization will not occur, but refers to the approximate temperature at which a highly cold worked material completely recrystallizes in one hour.
		During recrystallization stage, there is a significant drop in tensile strength, hardness and a large increase in the ductility of the material (See Figure 1).

	Recrystallization
		The solubility of the compound in the solvent used for recrystallization is important.
		The color remaining after recrystallization is due primarily to impurity on the surface of the crystals.
		For each recrystallization the following should be included in your report: exact amount of crude starting material, identify the solvent and amount used, the yield of pure material recovered, the melting point of the impure and pure material.

		When a metal is deformed, defects are created, which make the material intrinsically unstable.
