Rectilinear Panorama Pro 1.2.1 - Photoshop plug-in review
Working with Rectilinear over the course of several weeks, I was able to process dozens of photos with the plug-in.
The help files and the tutorials are very helpful and informative although there are areas where the language needs a bit of clarification—nothing that a couple of sessions with a consultants and an editor wouldn't solve.
All in all Rectilinear does its job very well but there are still a few ways in which it can be improved.

 Rectilinear convex region
Since the optimized X-monotone region and optimized rectilinear region cannot be computed in polynomial time with respect to N and logM, we compute the region pretty close to the optimized region instead.
It is presumed that the difference between training and test confidences of rectilinear regions is smaller compared to that of X-monotone regions and that the test confidence of rectilinear regions is higher than that of rectangular regions.
The test confidence of rectilinear regions is the highest among the three classes of regions.

Max Lyons Forums :: View topic - Hybrid Rectilinear & Cylindrical projections
I guess the reason the rectilinear and the cylindrical projections don't match at the vertical center lines of each is aproximately the equivalent of the differance between a Mercator and a geographic map.
The rectilinear (the same as 'perspective') projection has the same vertical distortion at the center of perspective as the Mercator projection has uniformly and a cylindrical projection is the same as the geographic projection...
The rectilinear projection has the same vertical distortion at its centre as the cylindrical projection, so the two can be easily joined at this point.

Rectilinear Paths among Rectilinear Obstacles - Lee, Yang, Wong (ResearchIndex)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Abstract: Given a set of obstacles and two distinguished points in the plane the problem of finding a collision free path subject to a certain optimization function is a fundamental problem that arises in many fields, such as motion planning in robotics, wire routing in VLSI and logistics in operations research.
In this survey we emphasize its applications to VLSI design and limit ourselves to the rectilinear domain in which the goal path to be computed and the underlying obstacles are all rectilinearly...

 Rectilinear Projection - PanoTools
The rectilinear projection also has the fundamental property that straight lines in real 3D space are mapped to straight lines in the projected image.
Many Panorama Viewers which show only a portion of a scene at a time do so using the rectilinear projection (regardless of what projection the full sphere source image was in).
The Cubic Projection is a special sub-case of the rectilinear projection, in which 90 by 90 degree rectilinear sub-projections are made onto 6 faces of a cube.

 Canon EOS fish eye rectilinearization
On the D30 this corresponds to the coverage of a 16.5 mm rectilinear lens.
Since the rectilinearization essentially involves magnification at the perimeter and condensation in the centre of the image, the resolution of the original image will be unevenly distributed in the resulting image.
A 2160 x 1440 pixel TIFF image was used for the rectilinearization using a HFOV of 60 (portrait).

The minimum number nu^_(G) of crossings in a straight line drawing of a graph G in a plane. For a complete graph of order n>=10, the rectilinear crossing number is always larger than the general graph crossing number.
Any two rectilinear figures with equal area can be dissected into a finite number of pieces to form each other.
Cartesian coordinates are rectilinear two-dimensional or three-dimensional coordinates (and therefore a special case of curvilinear coordinates) which are also called rectangular coordinates.

In a rectilinear drawing the edges must all be line segments.
The fewest number of crossings in such a drawing is the rectilinear crossing number, crbar(G).
In contrast to the complete graph, it is thought that the rectilinear crossing number of the complete bipartite graph is equal to its crossing number.

 YP Rectilinear Motion
YP Rectilinear Motion allows the user to plot a graph of velocity as a function of time.
The program uses this graph to build a graph of position vs time, and a graph of acceleration vs time, which are displayed in separate windows.
During the simulation, 3 vectors can be displayed in the animation window (positon, velocity and acceleration), and the tangent line can be drawn in the position and velocity graphs.

Rectilinear motion means that the particle travels along a straight line in space.
So it appears that showing that the magnitude of proper acceleration is constant is not enough to show rectilinear motion (at least in the context of the problem).
Rectilinear motion means there is some inertial frame where the particle moves in a straight line.

This is an area which contains numerous rectilinear surface patterns.
There are also more rectilinear formations sparsely scattered in between the Three large sections displayed on this page, as well as on several additional nearby images, (although not as clear).
There are several other MOC images within the proximity of this image, that may have similar rectilinear patterns with lesser degree of clarity, But it is important to note that these anomalous patterns are sparse, and can be easily confused with the natural terrain.

Field of View - Rectilinear and Fisheye Lenses
For normal and telephoto use, a rectilinear lens is ideal, however for extreme wideangle use it isn't.
The field of view of a rectilinear lens focused at infinity is very easy to calculate using simple trigonometry.
Of course just like the fact that rectilinear lenses are rarely ever truly rectilinear (they suffer from barrel and pincushion distortion), so fisheye lenses usually don't follow the exact mapping suggested by these equations.

Euclid's Elements, Book II, Proposition 14
It is required to construct a square equal to the rectilinear figure A.
Proposition I.45 on application of areas of rectilinear figures allows us to replace the figure under question with a rectangle of the same area.
That allows the area of two circles to be compared, but it doesn't answer the question "what's the area of this circle?" in the same way that this proposition does for rectilinear figures.
