Red Faction II does an excellent job in the graphics department, particularly when it comes to characters.
But Red Faction II does run at a solid frame rate most of the time, with no noticeable slowdown except for a few areas of certain levels.
Red Faction II does an excellent job combining the crucial elements of a first person shooter, but if you don't look at the box cover you could reasonably get this game confused with almost any other FPS in a modern setting.

Red Faction weighted its emphasis on the Geo-Mod concept rather unevenly -- it was a significant factor in the early going, but after a certain point it completely disappeared.
Red Faction II has very well-tuned analog aiming controls, to the point where it's not even all that difficult to settle your aiming point at head level and machinegun the crania off a large group of zombies.
Red Faction II has a curiously low-key soundtrack for much of the time, although it does include a modicum of the thumping music that's par for the genre's course.

When a game is as markedly mature as Red Faction II and is ported over to another system with literally zero enhancements it would seem only prudent that the publisher reduce the MSRP of the title, especially since the PS2 version can currently be had for under thirty bucks.
And Red Faction II gives you more reason to be trigger happy than any game before it, the only limiting factor for the amount of stuff you can destroy is the amount of ammo in your possession.
