Red River (Tennessee-Kentucky) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Red River is a major stream of north-central Tennessee and south-central Kentucky and is a major tributary of the Cumberland River.
About a mile and a half (2 km) above its mouth into the Cumberland, the Red River is joined by the West Fork of the Red River, its last tributary, which drains eastern Christian County and western Todd County, Kentucky.
As the area drained by the Red River becomes somewhat less agricultural and more of the remaining farmers switch to techniques involving less cultivation, it is likely that this color will continue to lessen in intensity, but certainly will not vanish.

RED WOLF, Canis rufus , U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
After evaluating numerous potential reintroduction sites, an effort to establish a permanent population of red wolves in the wild was attempted from 1982 to 1984 on the Tennessee Valley Authority's Land Between the Lakes.
The ability of the red wolf to retain its genetic integrity in the presence of a coyote population, assuming otherwise favorable circumstances, is presently unknown.
The disappearance of the last red wolves from the wild is attributed to two factors: habitat changes which favored expansion of the historic coyote range into red wolf territory, and the local breakdown of red wolf social structure (caused by extensive trapping, poisoning, and shooting).

History of the Mississippi River and Tributaries Project
At the latitude of Red River Landing, the project flood is estimated at 3,000,000 cfs.
To protect communities along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers and to reduce the flood heights to which the controlling levees on the Missouri side would otherwise be subjected, the project provides for a setback levee about 5 miles west of the riverfront levee through this reach.
The Mississippi River levees are designed to protect the alluvial valley against the project flood by confining flow to the leveed channel, except where it enters the natural blackwater areas or is diverted purposely into the floodway areas.

The red wolf is being reintroduced to prevent its extinction and to restore the ecosystems in which red wolves once occurred.
It is believed that limited interbreeding between wolves (gray and red) and coyotes on the fringes of wolf populations is a natural occurrence that does not affect the integrity of either species.
However, the red wolf, coyote, gray wolf, and even the domestic dog are all capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring.

The sacrament of the Lord's Supper was administered at the church of Red River (near the Tennessee-Kentucky border), which was ministered to, in connection with the Gasper and Muddy river congregations, by the Rev. James McGready who had recently come from Orange county, North Carolina.
It all began, not at Cane Ridge, but two years earlier at the emotionally charged communion service at Red River church when a woman at the extreme end of the house, gave vent to her feelings in loud cries and shouts.
The first regular general camp meeting was held at the Gasper River Church, in July, 1800; but the rage spread, and a dozen encampments followed in quick succession.
