Nevada has at least three Red Rock Canyons; two are in sections of the Toiyabe National Forest near the centre of the state while by far the most well-known is location is along the east side of the Spring Mountains - one of the ranges of hills that surround most sides of Las Vegas.
One elevated viewpoint (Red Rock Vista) affords the best overall view of the cliffs, while for closer access there is a 13 mile one-way scenic drive, within the NCA boundaries.

Federal fire officials said it could be a week before the Red Rock Canyon loop road reopens after flames burned almost 900 acres from a lightning-caused fire on Friday.
The Red Rock Visitors Center was evacuated, and the 13-mile-long scenic loop drive was closed as flames from the fire burned less than a mile from the visitor's center, said Kirsten Cannon, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Land Management.
A 100-acre fire in Trout Canyon on the west side of the Spring Mountains was not active late Sunday, Short said.
