This support includes ensuring that Red Seal policies and procedures are adhered to in the conduct of CCDA related business, as well as taking and distributing minutes, planning events and organizing conference calls and meetings.
At present, HRDC Red Seal staff are working on behalf of the PMI committee on a variety of projects including the development of Red Seal posters.

RCA Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RCA Records was founded in 1901 as the Victor Talking Machine Company, and the RCA initials stand for Radio Corporation of America, which was the parent corporation in the pre-BMG days.
Other early stereo recordings were made by Arturo Toscanini and Guido Cantelli and the NBC Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops Orchestra under Arthur Fiedler, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Fritz Reiner.
RCA Records label group: In 2003 BMG was reorganized in the United States creating the RCA Records Group which combined RCA Records, Arista Records and J Records with Clive Davis heading the reorganised unit.

Available records do not show, for certain, that this plan was worked on and/or approved by Elihu Root and Charles Evans Hughes, but it is known that these men and others of top national prominence were retained by Victor to support the company's large and competent legal staff.
At the end of a single record the needle would have developed a "face," and since the inside grooves of a record had a different contour than the outside, the needle at the end of a record would not fit the grooves as it had when it was new.
There were times when shellac, record scrap, etc., was stored in open fields under tarpaulins, and finished instruments, which distributors did not take as anticipated, were stored among machinery in inactive parts of the factory and in box cars held on the company's sidings under demurrage.

 siefert
In new record lists printed in magazines and newspapers, Red Seal records were always listed separately; and in the yearly catalogs of all Victor recordings, they were eventually listed in a separate section on pink paper.
To judge by Victor's messages to their dealers, they were not any happier than other producers of grand opera: "Red Seal Records have not always been understood by either the Dealer or his customers." Presumably because operas were numerous but expensive and heard only in the large cities, they were impossible to thoroughly understand.
In addition to the Red Seal of distinction, which was bestowed only on the top opera singers, the various recordings of a particular aria or song by different singers were priced differently.

As for classicism, we hear in these records a mode of instrumental address that conveys a cultivated intonation, a consistent and balanced collective sound, a controlled but sharply limned approach to phrasing, and a projection of musical structure which values proportion on what might be called a human scale.
In almost all cases, defects show themselves by the addition of noise to the recorded music, and it is the degree to which this noise detracts from the music and the quiet of a record that lessens the record's grade.

Tim Gracyk's Phonographs and Old Records -- Opera on Old 78 Records
If you wonder why these Red Seal records can be often found today in near-mint condition whereas 78s of pop hits are often worn, keep in mind that opera records were not used for dancing, so they were not generally played as often as popular jazz and blues numbers.
As I suggested earlier, most Red Seal Victors were purchased by the upper-classes, but middle class consumers did buy some--and they certainly bought some Caruso discs (not many lower income households had Victrolas, which were relatively expensive at that time).
As I have said, their common records tend to be worth a dollar or two if they are in excellent shape--but even at this low price, finding a buyer is no easy task.

Adelina Patti: "Ah, non credea mirarti"
The release of these recordings was accompanied by a wave of publicity which influenced, of course, their presentation to the public and reflect contemporary attitudes not only to Patti, but to gramophone recording itself.
Although her records were released at 78 rpm, this was by no means a standard for recording, and it was not the practice with early wax recording to take note of the recording speed.
The contrast in recording techniques from 1905-06 to the present is clear, but Patti’s recordings themselves vary from others of the time, primarily because she insisted on being recorded in her own home.

Along with the leather-bound sets of Dickens, Thackeray, and Oliver Wendell Holmes, Victor Red Seals became a customary adjunct of the refined American parlor, to be displayed with becoming pride to impressionable guests and relations.
They were made before the modern cut and paste style of recording was possible -- a soprano could not go into the studio and record a bank of high Cs for use in producing a full-length recording at a later date when she might not be in good voice.
Acoustic recordings afford us a living re-creation of famous performances and thus constitute a direct link to the musical heritage we have received from the past, just as those of the present will link the future back to today.
