Red Serge - Encyclopedia Glossary Meaning Explanation Red Serge   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
Finishing off the Red Serge are brown leather riding boots, a chocolate brown wide-brimmed stetson with a glass-flat brim, and the ever-present side-arm in a brown leather holster on a brown Sam Browne belt.
The Red Serge is typically not worn when an officer is on duty during a normal shift, but reserved for occasions such as civic ceremonies, as a visual representative of the security force for government dignitaries, and during public relations–related special events such as school career days.
The Red Serge is also worn with pride by the Members during special personal events, such as the wedding ceremony of a fellow Member, where it is not uncommon for an entire detachment of a small community to wear the Red Serge as an honour guard for the bride and groom at their wedding ceremony.

The earliest Red Skull in the 1940s comics was George Maxon, an American businessman and Nazi agent who led a ring of spies and saboteurs.
A later Red Skull--Johann Schmidt--was developed by Marvel Comics writers, and through retconing, was designated to be the original Red Skull, leading to Maxon sometimes being designated Red Skull II (in Silver Age issues, Maxon was simply described as an impostor who acted as a decoy).
The Red Skull later manipulated his way into the position of Secretary of State as Dell Rusk (an obvious reference to Donald Rumsfeld, but also an anagram for "red skull") to develop a biological weapon he tested at Mount Rushmore.

In most other investigated platyrrhines (New World monkeys), red and green are determined by alleles at a single locus, again on the X chromosome; thus, males are always dichromatic, whereas females may be either dichromatic (if homozygous) or trichromatic (if heterozygous).
It is suggested that, during the evolution of catarrhines, the red-green locus duplicated, one of the daughter loci fixing the red gene and the other the green.

However, it is important to note that lorises do not always move slowly.  Their movements may seem so due to their mode of progression, which is a hand over hand stretching, spiraling and twisting, as opposed to active leaping (Sellers 1996).
Research on the Sri Lankan lorises revealed an even more interesting aspect of their locomotion.  Slender lorises in India were never observed to run.  Running involves active lateral movement of two limbs, with two other limbs in contact with a substrate; this had never been seen among Indian lorises.
Rather, the “cautious” loris typically maintains a grip on a tree branch with at least three of its spindly limbs.
