Redland was designed and implemented from early 2000 with a modular approach to the internal parts - each has an interface and a set of implementations of that interface (details of how to do this in C and cross-languages are described in [1]).
Redland does not provide any way to store standalone nodes and arcs, but navigating the graph that is formed from triples can be done in a node-centric form by using model methods that return the object of a triple with a given (subject, predicate), that is, the node at the end of an arc.
The current applications of Redland have been up to 3.5M triples using the BerkeleyDB stores on typical desktop PC hardware[1], with acceptable interactive response, but this is not considered a large triplestore.

The surroundings still evoke a rural feel, although the city of Bristol has now spread and engulfed the former mansion (now a school) and built on most of the estate.
It is now the parish church for Redland and as such is not always large enough for services I was heartened to hear when I visited on the 5th June 2000.
The chapel was built as a private chapel for John Cossins who had purchased the estate of Redland Court for his retirement in 1732, having made his money as a grocer in London.

Any hows I came across some old photo's of Redland park which is a park I personally know well.
And fecken hell right in the corner of the park was this great big standing stone on its side hidden in a far off corner of the park that I had never noticed before!
I did mention this to some old geeza in a pub and he said that there was 3 stone circles in Redland park before the Victorians destroyed um!
