  Redlichiida
Redlichiina '''Redlichiida''' is an Order (biology)order within the major extinct arthropod class Trilobita.
The '''Redlichids''' are one of the four older classes of trilobites that originated in the Lower Cambrian.
The Olenellids are found in North America and associated areas that comprised the Cambrian continent of Laurentia.

Phylogenetic analysis of some basal early Cambrian trilobites, the biogeographic origins of the Eutrilobita, and the ...
As trilobites are relatively derived arthropods, this suggests that numerous important episodes of metazoan cladogenesis precede both the earliest trilobitic part of the Early Cambrian, and indeed, even the Early Cambrian.
Thus, the "Fallotaspidoidea" are a grade group within and transitional to the rest (sutured members) of the Redlichiina, and they include taxa that share a close common ancestry with the Olenellina, the basal eutrilobite clade (Lieberman, 1998, 2001).
The "fallotaspidoids" and basal representatives of the Redlichiina are characterized by several features discussed by Lieberman (1998, 2001) which allow them to be consistently distinguished from the Olenellina.

Thus the Redlichiina, as constituted in the 1997 Treatise, is considered polyphyletic.
Thus the Redlichiina has not been internally analysed and those that have dealt at the generic level within the Olenellina (Lieberman 1998, 1999) have concentrated on the Olenelloidea rather than the Fallota-spidoidea.
However, the earliest Redlichiina and Olenellina with comparatively long preglabellar fields and short anterior borders and rostral plates (where known), for which a detached hypostome condition is almost certain, argue against it being a valid exemplar.

The coherence, or otherwise, of Proetida, Asaphida, Corynexochida and the lichid/odontopleurid groups will be resolved by such studies.
The problems of paraphyly in Ptychopariida and Redlichiina may prove more obdurate.
The temporal brevity of certain Cambrian family ranges may be partly a taxonomic artefact.

The Emuellidae share with the Olenellidae the division of the thorax, and macropleurality; they differ in the number of segments and the fusion of prothoracic segments, and with regard to cephalic features in the possession of a complete set of functional sutures.
The cephalic features are similar to those of some of the families of the Redlichiina, but the latter lack the characteristic thorax of the Emuellidae.
The Opisthothorax in the Adult can have up to 61 Segments in B. dailyi, (accounting for half the total length of the Trilobite), ending in a very small Pygidium.

They are distinguished by their half-circle shaped cephalons, many segmented thoraces, and very small pygidiums.
The order is divided into two suborders, Suborder Olenellina, and Suborder Redlichiina.
