It is with great sadness that The Reedham Trust announce that their Chairman, Tony Miller, passed away on 27 April 2007.
The family have asked that donations in Tony's memory be made to The Reedham Trust.
The Reedham Trust is a grant making body which supports children throughout the UK who, through the death or disablement of one or both parents, are in urgent need of assistance and care or who are at risk or cannot be cared for adequately in the home environment.

Reedham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk and within The Broads National Park.
It is situated on the north bank of the River Yare, some 20 km east of the city of Norwich, 12 km south-west of the town of Great Yarmouth and the same distance north-west of the Suffolk town of Lowestoft.
Reedham Ferry, a chain ferry just outside the village, is the only road crossing point on the River Yare between Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

An alternative location is from the quayside: at the edge of Reedham village continue straight on, crossing the railway line at the station.
Immediately after this there are two left turns (plus the station car park entrance); take the more gentle of these (the 2nd one) and follow this road down to the quayside: the road turns sharp left and then take the right fork immediately after.
However, the bridge to the east of the Reedham station is a much better location for trains to Lowestoft.

Reedham Junction was a gem of a box if there ever was one.
The next box is Reedham Swing Bridge, and the GE always provided Lock and Block at swing bridges to reduce the chances of a train falling into one of the Norfolk Broads.
Block instruments were provided for this purpose at Reedham Junction, Berney Arms and Breydon Junction, and these were of the Tyer's one-wire, three-position type which were rare on the Great Eastern.

Proposals were made to deepen the River Yare between Norwich and Reedham, build a 2½ mile canal from Reedham to Haddiscoe, enlarge Oulton Dyke, create a short link between Oulton Broad and Lake Lothing and another from Lake Lothing to the sea.
To the west of Reedham is one of the Broads' most famous attractions - Reedham Chain Ferry (TG407014) which carries the B1140 over the river.
Cantley is reached via the minor roads to the west of the B1140 (Acle to Reedham road).

 Cruising the Broads in a small boat - Reedham Ferry.
We were trailing the dinghy to the Norfolk Broads from Suffolk heading for Reedham where we had read (in a caravanning guide) that there was a camp-site with a free launching ramp.
I was checking the route with the road signs when I now saw that instead of signposting Reedham (as it was marked on the map) it was calling it Reedham Ferry.

 Dinghy Cruising the Broads.
I asked what the tidal difference for Reedham would be and although this specific term seemed new to the Harbourmaster he immediately gathered its meaning and told me that it is two and a half hours later at Reedham.
Two and a half hours is quite a lot to apply, but with the narrowness of the waterway comes an improved degree of precision and my (all too brief) observations appeared to confirm the accuracy of the predictions.
The tidal flow was quite strong at Reedham and I assume that the closer to the sea you go, the greater the flow will become.

Following this the application will then be presented to the Trust’s Selection Panel at their next scheduled meeting and a decision will be taken at that time as to whether or not The Reedham Trust will be able to award a grant.

Reed died four years later, aged 75, and the asylum’s name was changed to Reedham in his honour.
When the station opened in 1911 it also took the name Reedham, as did the village that grew up nearby.

During the 1970's I used to watch Reedham Vikings Tug of War team; do they still exist.
I know that they kept the Reedham Ferry Inn and their brother John also kept it when Jeremiah died but only for2 years.
I can't find details of Jeremiah's brothers and sisters but I do know that his father was John (b 1745 but I don't know where and died in Reedham on 23.4.1803 who was married to Mary b 1748 died 6.9.1829 in Reedham.
